Vancouver is an outdoorsy city ranking among the world’s most livable, sheltered by Vancouver Island and the Pacific Range mountains. The most famous peak, Grouse Mountain, is a favorite spot for hiking and skiing. Take the cable car up for magnificent views of the city's skyscrapers and huge Stanley Park.
Skirting this park is the Seawall, a popular biking trail with paths passing the Vancouver Aquarium, picnic spots and a pitch and putt course. There are also a couple of beaches, but the best ones are along English Bay in Kitsilano.
Granville Island is just across False Creek from Yaletown and houses some quirky shops and markets. Ferries depart from here to near BC Place Stadium and home field of the city’s football and soccer teams. The legendary Vancouver Canucks ice hockey team play next door at Rogers Arena.
With the largest Chinatown in North America, Gastown is the oldest part of Vancouver and is near the Canada Place cruise ship terminal.
We could go on and on about British Columbia's biggest city, but we could never do it justice, so why not try it for yourself? Booking.com has a fabulous range of accommodations, from hotels near Vancouver Airport in Richmond to downtown B&Bs and motels near all of its ferry ports.
Would come back to Vancouver.
..if it was in Australia I would move there within a heartbeat ...loved it ...
Whistler / waterfront/ forests/ Bamf/ columibian icefeilds/ lake louise/ Vancouver island/ UBC/ stanley park to name a few and not to forget funky bars and the jazz festival was a magical surprise, the natural and eco friendly environment was beyond expectations, the people showed warmth and generosity of spirit ...highly recommend!!

Vancouver is a young city both in terms of its population and heritage. It has a large Asian population who mainly came to Canada to provide labour for the Canadian Pacific Railway and form part of a large community.
The architecture of the city is mainly glass and steel, making the city feel light and modern, and reflecting the many waterfronts and quaysides.
Sadly there is a problem with homelessness and addiction. We were told that the homeless come from other states. attracted by the mild climate and tolerance of Vancouver. It is a little disturbing to see the problem so openly in such a wealthy country.

I stayed in English Bay, which was lively and laid-back. Great beach and dining options, Salsa dance party near beach on Tuesday. Also a good starting point to explore Stanley Park, Downtown, Granville Island etc. Unfortunately, the Vancouver Art Gallery and the Aquarium are very expensive. Architecture varies between older and very modern buildings.

Wonderful city. Lots of things to do. Many restaurants to explore. Clean. Friendly. Traffic can be a hassle (it is a city, after all), but things like parking are extremely easy and well thought out. Road trips into the interior are well-worth your time.

We made the mistake of walking out of the hotel without asking for recommendations and ended up in the Chinatown area in the evening. When we returned the staff were dismayed that we had gone without their help, even though it was our mishap, how could they know where we were going??? After that, we asked for help every time. They made perfect suggestions and even reservations for us.

I value privacy everytime i stay with upscale hotels. This Fairmont in Downtown Vancouver is quite old and you can hear voices of people walking in the hallway. Doors has big gap in between the floor and the door which is why you can hear all voices of people in hallway. Not highly recommendable especially if you value privacy and quite time. This is the only Fairmont i've been so far that did not meet my expectation. First and last for this branch. Might book though to different fairmont as they have a better facilities.

We had a very nice stay at the Windsor Guest House in Vancouver. The location is perfect, just near Broadway City Hall Metro Station, very easy to reach from Vancouver International Airport and 3-4 stops from Vancouver Downtown. More than that, the staff was superfriendly, both the one that has welcomed us in as well as the breakfast staff. The breakfast is a nice moment also to exchange ideas and experiences with the other guests. It's definitely the best choice for us in Vancouver, and we recommend it.

I checked in late in the evening so I didn't get to spend as much time at the hotel as I normally would have. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The shuttle back to the airport the following morning was great. If we need to stay overnight in Vancouver again, I'll will definitely consider this place.
