Bladon (0.4 miles from London Oxford Airport)
Bus and the lodge With space and views is located in Bladon, just 1.8 miles from Blenheim Palace and 7.8 miles from University of Oxford. A perfect destination for sports lovers, so much to do including pool, table tennis, darts, football, some games for the kids and sky sports on the TV, we loved it. The Bus is such a talking point, nicely converted with all the essentials of a kitchen, bathroom & bedroom. It overlooks an airport which again is interesting, I thought noise from planes taking off might be an issue, but we didn't hear anything.

If you are wanting to stay in a village close to, but not actually in Oxford, then consider Cassington. Though small, Cassington has the rural village outlook but is just a few miles away from Oxford. The Park & Ride is 4 miles away; also the train station at Oxford Parkway for day getaways to London by rail. There are two pubs in Cassington - the Red Lion and Chequers. The 20 mph speed limit in the village make it safe for strolling and dog walking. A great base for access to Blenheim Palace and many Oxfordshire walks.
CHarming and quaint village near Tackley, the village I grew up in. The walk to Tackley past the canal and river is lovely and barely changed in 50 years. The village pub "The Oxford Arms" does a couple of decent real ales and nice food.
Blenheim Palace and Gardens are wonderful. Eating out is rather expensive but there are several good options. Woodstock is easily to get around, with some lovely shops and cafes. The small museum is worth a visit.
Stressful trying to get a new code for door. Woman insisted on texting it rather than just telling over the phone. Wasted half an hour f our time. Modern tv, but didn’t have time to work out how to use it. Bed quite high. We are average height. So points in wall sockets were useful. Went to a local pub for food. The Black Horse. Food & service were OK. Has heating if required plenty of tea & coffee, fresh milk in fridge. Need to take some washing up liquid in a small bottle. Tea towel provided. Room clean and comfortable.
Awful. You can’t control your own heating and have to ask….then they don’t respond. I have never come across this anywhere in my life. Church bells ring in the hour all night….it is very near the bedroom and will wake you up every hour Dirty towels and poor responses from the hosts Not luxury in any way I would avoid if you want a relaxing place to stay
Woodstock has everything you could want from a small town – plenty of nice pubs that serve food, independent cafes and shops, including a great little independent bookshop and Louisa Maybury’s amazing textile shop.
