Hotell Gamla Fängelset is a converted prison from 1861 located in central Umeå and offers free WiFi and breakfast. All rooms have windows and shared bathroom facilities. One of the best places I've ever stayed. It's not the right place for those who want something luxury but it's the place for people appreciating good taste and home atmosphere. It's former jail, yes, but it's one of the coziest places I've seen. I enjoyed everything: cozy atmosphere, comfortable bed, inner decor, breakfast, easy check in at night. Special thank you for fresh flowers and candles! They really gave the feeling of home. It was so nice to talk to the owner at the end of my stay and to learn the story of family business. U&me hotel is located in the center of Umeå, just 164 feet from the Umeälv. The contemporary furnished rooms all have a fantastic view of the city or the river. The room was big, modern, clean, well equipped and the view was great.
