Casa de Ponte is absolutely unique in that it is fitted with traditional Portuguese furniture, bed linen, lamps, caskets etc. It is a 19th-century house and its cultured owner, Claudia, makes sure that the original spirit of the place is preserved. The house has historic significance: republican insurgents used to hide there, and the invasion of the Napoleonic army was stopped at the bridge which you see from the window. The stone stairs leading to the apartment, as well as the picturesque backyard with trees, give shade and respite from the heat. The room and the bathroom are visually pleasing, spacious and clean. We rested well, as the beds are very comfortable, and the house cools nicely during the night. It got busier and louder outside during the weekend, but we didn't mind as we were completely charmed with the atmosphere of the place. We had all the amenities we needed, and we will certainly come back next time we're in this area. We also appreciated the fresh and healthy breakfast, served in a nearby resto-bar. The town of Côja is very beautiful and full of history. There is a good praia fluvial and some nice riverside resting places. If you've got a car, you can visit nearby mountains and the Unesco Heritage site of Piodão. Côja is about an hour's drive from Coimbra.

Its a great place to take a few days in nature and enjoy the river and the facilities of the place, especially if you like making fires in the wood ovens. Total privecy and quiet. The place is clean and comfortable for a family. I would happily stay a few more days.
