You sleep on tatamis (comfortable!) and bathroom facilities are shared. We arrived by car and there was parking. Our host gave us some excellent recommendations around town. It’s in a residential neighbourhood about a 10 minute walk down to the beach and the tourist area, which is really nice (as the centre of town feels a bit touristy)

Set in Shirahama, within 200 metres of Shirahama Beach and 1.2 km of Ezura Beach, Shirahama no Yado Daigo offers free WiFi throughout the property. Location is super convenient in the middle of town, near the bus stops, beach, and restaurants. The owner also speaks Mandarin, so we were able to communicate and she provided a lot of recommendations. For English speakers, she has translations prepared too for check in etc. She was very accommodating and made delicious breakfast meals. Room was very clean and comfortable, perfect to relax in after onsen hopping in town.

400 metres from Shirahama Beach, Guesthouse Shirahama is located in Shirahama and offers free WiFi in public areas. It was wonderful to interact with the staff and some other guests. They were all very friendly and kind.

Featuring free WiFi throughout the property, Dormitory Sandanya Guesthouse offers accommodation in Shirahama. Sandanya is a lovely and unique guest house.Impeccably clean,with spacious Japanese style rooms and beautiful ground floor area with amazing collections of Japanese dolls,glasses,shells and so much more..There is a pc corner, too. Regarding travel necessities,whatever you think of-the owner already has it covered.Hygiene sets,maps,bus passes,plenty of fridge/freezer space,nice,fragrant towels..can’t praise this place enough.For western travellers,don’t be put off by shared toilets and bathrooms:all in pristine conditions,even with bath mats changed after every use. The owner speaks English and is very helpful and friendly.Location wise,it’s a literally min away from Sandanbeki cliffs and if you want to go down the hill to some onsen or to Shirahama beach,the bus stop is just next to the house.Walking to Shirahama beach is easy, only takes 20 min,with 2 foot baths along the way. I stayed 4 nights there and loved everything about this guesthouse.
