A beautiful (and very old) thatched country pub/hotel in idyllic surroundings in a tiny village. Following a fire a few years ago, the interior was extensively remodelled but many of the old features have been retained. Our upstairs en-suite room was of a good size and tastefully furnished. Our king bed was incredibly comfortable and we slept really well. We had an evening meal and two breakfasts in the restaurant. All of them were cooked to a high standard and represented good value. All staff without exception were friendly, welcoming and eager to help. We had a very enjoyable time and would happily stay here again if we were visiting this lovely part of Devon.

Location was a perfect jumping off point for Dartmoor national park. Jane was very knowledgable and helpful in recommending where to eat (we loved the Railway Inn) and what to do. Room was big, beds comfortable, and it was exactly what we were looking for in our English countryside farm stay. The breakfasts were delicious, especially the bacon and sausage which are meats from their farm and were like no breakfast meats I have ever eaten! Fresh juice from their orchard in our room refrigerator was a nice touch, also very delicious.

Welcoming couple who run it. It was quiet, being in an annex. The items in the room, such as bottled water, were of high quality. Room only, but Chagford is an expensive area so not too bad value, and they kindly left ceral and fruit in the entrance area. The best thing about it was the quality of the food in the pub itself, which was phenomenal.
