This is an apartment with no frills, but there is all we need! A good shower, comfortable bed, cooking facility, It's clean and the owner makes guests to feel welcome. A stroll to the small center of the village.

I came with very little expectations. As a first time Crete visitor, it's not easy to find the right place. Call it luck, this was the right place! The owners are amazing, the location is excellent, I managed to go to the beach every day. The culinary opportunities around are delicious! This place is worth it for the spectacular view of the bay alone. I hope to return one day.

The cottage was spotlessly clean when we arrived. The kitchen area has everything you need for home cooking: plenty of utensils, cutlery, cups and glasses, good size saucepans, colander, cheese grater, etc and a separate oven, halogen 4 ring hob, toaster and microwave. The slimline dishwasher was lovely to have. The washing machine was very useful too. The outside area upstairs was great for having breakfast and hanging out washing and or wet swimming costumes after a day at the beach. The master bed was extremely comfortable with a firm mattress, so a good night's sleep was had. There were duvets and a bed covers, which was handy as the temperature dropped at night (October when we visited). The shower had great pressure so was like a power shower. There is a separate toilet upstairs, which is always handy! There were plenty of towels. The location is fabulous, a minute walk from the main road, but extremely quiet, meaning a restful night. A couple of minutes to the beach where we also parked. Again, a couple of minutes walk from supermarkets, bakers, restaurants and butchers. The host, Yana, is phenomenal. Fabulous communication, friendly and helpful. Any help we needed, Yana, was quick to respond. Made us feel home from home. Highly recommend a stay at Julia's Cottage

Amazing villa with all of the amenities needed and splendid garden. 25 min to Chania which is OK. Great hospitality from Kostas who helped us fix all of the issues we had. The path next to the villa following the river is a bonus if you want to escape from the sun and enjoy a nice walk.

Well maintained with everything we needed for a self catering holiday. Bakery and convenience stores close by. Restaurants more shops and beautiful beach a short walk away. Totally recommend this property to couples and a small family with young children. Our host was very generous with provisions left for us throughout our stay. A lovely garden at the back too. 🥰

It is not a luxury hotel, but simple, clean and well equipped. We hardly cooked for ourselves though, because there are many cheap restaurants within walking distance, which offer good Greek cuisine. Kalyves is an authentic Greek village, within easy reach of Chania and Rethymno and a good starting point for many day trips in Western Crete. Totally recommend - but do get a sea view room!

Everyone always greeted us with a smile and took a lot of interest in what we were doing and what we needed. Nothing was out of their way, always helpful! The poolside area was wonderful and the whole place has a cosy feel. The view of the village and the sea are incredible.

Everything is really high quality, from the linens to the bathrooms and the general apartment fit out. The windows are excellent as they block out the noise from being in the centre of the village but also have mosquito netting for if you want to open them and let the breeze in. Porto Kalyves apartments are in a great location for both sides of the village. All of the staff were very friendly and always helpful. The Cactus bar and restaurant attached is very good and makes the best cocktails!
