“It's not only blue...but also clean and tidy as your private bathroom is (including all kinds of cozy towels,
You get a friendly welcome from your hosts, who will -if possible- not shy away from going through all kinds of trouble for you -for exp picking you up from the airport or when you get lost somewhere on the Island. Just call them.
Kitchen comes fully equipped with micro, oven, fridge etc etc -and is without saying clean and tidy as well. If you're lucky the hosts might even invite you to a share a good Portuguese traditional meal with them. Well, I was lucky.
Canicio, especially Canico de Baixo, where you stay, is quiet and peaceful and still has almost everything, you might need just around the corner. The beach is about 5 minutes and the bus stop for trips to Funchal, which will be your main hub for further explorations of the island about 2 minutes down the street. Trips to Funchal cost you
2.20 € and approx 30 minutes -taking the bus comes with some great views down the cliffs and over the sea.
Some quite good restaurants, including a German one, called "Le Buffet"(non GMO food with special eye on quality and detail etc etc), are within approx 15 minutes reachable, that you can walk either along the beach, listening to waves, seabirds, and sometimes wind, - or the usual pedestrian walk way.
There are some mini markets to pick up some food, all of them overpriced, except that one near the Galo Resort (20 min), which I found more reasonable priced. In Canico you get the usual stores with more reasonable prices. Well, about all this and more you can always ask you hosts, who speak perfect English and who will, as I mentioned at the beginning, do what they can, to be helpful.
In short: clean, tidy, added value through helpful hosts, recommendable.”
