Picture Postcard Perfect

Bruges is a picture perfect medieval city that will charm you with its distinctive, century-old houses, plentiful canals and city walls. The famous 13th-century Belfry offers the opportunity to watch the cobbled market place, the Grote Markt, below while 47 bells call out to the city every 15-minutes. While you’re in the Grote Markt you can take a ride in one of the horse-drawn carriages around the city.

Many interesting artifacts can be found in the churches of Bruges, a Michelangelo statue is housed in the Church of Our Lady and the Basilica of the Holy Blood contains a vial of blood reportedly from Jesus Christ. Other museums include the Groeninge Museum which includes works of art spanning 6 centuries.

Belgium cuisine is famous worldwide and the cafes of Bruges offer an inviting retreat from the cooler climate. Brewery De Halve Maan explains the process behind the beer which washes down the world-class fries, chocolate and mussels found all over the city.

Lovely place but have to dig out the best places to eat as that is the case in most touristy places. Loads of history with beautiful architecture and very interesting history everywhere.museums were done in an interesting way. Too many churches but then I am not a believer, at all

Fantastic city, every body helpful towards a disabled person, restaurant staff A1 great service always smiling, my shopping was a pleasure, small problem = cobbled streets not good for wheel chair use, but I would never change them part of the old, beautiful Bruges

    Lovely city with beautiful architecture.

Lovely city with beautiful architecture. Compact and easy to get around on foot. Loved the Folk Art museum and the Lace museum. Such a pleasure to sit at coffee shop in a pretty square having breakfast. We found restaurants expensive, especially good quality ones. Best meal was lunch at the weekend in Restaurant Diligence, which was excellent; it was a shame they weren't open for lunch during the week, otherwise we'd have eaten there more often. Booking is recommended. Bruges has a relaxed atmosphere and people seem friendly and helpful. And then of course there's all the chocolate! We highly recommend Bruges.

You can easily spend 2 days in Brugge.

You can easily spend 2 days in Brugge. A good idea could be to make a guided walk with one of the students talking about the interesting historie of Brugge - and how it, as one of the only Belgium cities, survived WVII. Good luck, in the most beautiful town in Beligium.

Small compact town/city so easy to walk anywhere.

Small compact town/city so easy to walk anywhere. Do the free walking tour first activity then you know where things are and some little shortcuts. Do the boat tour, all same price so no worry who you go with on the day but don't book in advance, buy on day. Do Half Moon brewery tour but lots of steps up and down, but free beer at the end! Do Wall of Beer and samples then off to House of Waffles down the road for lunch!

Bruges is undoubtedly stunning, but they certainly know how to charge for the experience - everything and everywhere was extremely expensive. In many places it was difficult to pay in cash, which was a problem. Public toilets all charge a euro, so be prepared with some small change, but they are not of a very good standard. I highly recommend the boat trips, the Gruuthus museum (which hardly anyone seems to go to) and the House of Waffles, where the staff and the waffles are all wonderful.

Best possible neighbourhood in Bruges, at walking distance from good and affordable parking (ZAND). Nearby canals convey the typical atmosphere of Bruges. I would book that hotel again if I wanted to enjoy Bruges. Breakfast was good!

The hotel was beautiful and in a perfect location to access the Christmas Market and historic centre of Bruges. The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially those in the Jazz Bar who were absolutely brilliant.
