FAQs about hotels in Beijing

From Chinese Dynasties to Cultural Dynamics

A world-renowned gem, sprawling Beijing has magnificent monuments and peaceful parks. At its heart is the world’s largest square, Tiananmen, surrounded by important museums and the amazing Forbidden City. This 15th-century, walled complex of palaces neighbors Jingshan Park and Beihai Park with its imperial garden.

Across from Tiananmen Square is the ultra-modern National Center for Perfoming Arts, a beacon of the city’s culture so impressively displayed at the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2008 Beijing Olympics in the Bird’s Nest Stadium.

To its east is the UNESCO World Heritage listed Summer Palace, a lakeside retreat of emperors, while also UNESCO listed is the grand Temple of Heaven in Chongwen district, where remnants of Ming dynasty city walls are visible. Nearby are several hutongs, narrow alleys with traditional architecture, that contrast with wider, modern roads like Beijing Financial Street, the city's business area.

The most popular Beijing shopping street is Wangfujing, and other must-see sights include the giant pandas at Beijing Zoo and the Great Wall of China, an easy day trip from Beijing.

As you would expect from the capital of the world’s most populous country, there are a good number of 5-star hotels in Beijing on Booking.com, mainly in the Dongcheng and Chaoyang districts. There are also several hotels near Beijing Capital Airport in the northeast.

Beijing is a very vibrant and exciting city. Lots of historical and cultural sights. But foreign visitors need to be very well prepared as it can be very difficult to communicate with the Chinese because a great percentage don't speak or understand English.

Spend the time exploring the places of interest, especially forbidden city, we were there for 3 hours. We also tried pottery, and spent about 4 hours at the museum and making a ceramic bowl. The culture and history is rich and worth your time exploring the city in a slower pace than rushing to tick off checklist.

the city is easy to get around on your own by taxi or metro. The city feels safe with the police on the street, and the mobile policestations. Even though it a really big city it's soo quiet because of the EV cars, scooters and bicycles. The city has a lot of culture to offer combined with the new modern parts of the city. Beijing is totally worth the trip

The city is full of small family restaurants, where you can get a good meal for pennies. I'm not talking Michelin quality, but I am talking tasty and filling. Getting around the city is simple; the metro and many major centres have signs in both Chinese script and Chinese English. So long as you keep your wits about you, read the signs carefully, and can navigate, you'll be fine. China has millennia of history and culture, so there's a lot to explore. As usual, plan what you want to do and don't try and do everything. For me, I really enjoyed the National Arts Museum, especially their shop. That shop just happens to serve the best espresso in the city (admittedly, I didn't try every coffee outlet, but...). Remember, China has a very different culture to Europe, so you have to adapt to their way of doing things. Be ready for difference, and adapt to it, even when it's scary, such as crossing the road (which is mad, mad).

I would love to have stayed longer.

I would love to have stayed longer. Beijing has lots to see and I would recommend staying at least 4 nights not to feel rushed. Definitely do your research before going and book trips to avoid disappointment of not being able to visit places. Remember it can get very busy so just go with the flow. The subway is easy to use but if you’re not sure, just ask. There are people who will help and use translator to help with communication.

Bejing is a great city to visit, but one has to do some home work before jetting off to Bejing. The western countries applications like Google Maps, Uber do not work in Bejing, therfore one has to be sure to have some Chinese Apps installed on your phones before coming to Bejing. Apps like Ali Pay, Wee Chat, the Chinese Version of Google Maps called Amap, it is a must. One has to have a Global esim if possible and be able to download all of these apps in order to move around in Bejing easily. Otherwise moving around will be a struggle. All in all great city to visit.

This hotel was the perfect place to stay for my first trip to Beijing as a solo female traveller. It is centrally-located right next to Wangfujing shopping street and a 20 min walk from main attractions, and has 2 subway stations very close by which were very handy for getting around. The hotel itself was clean and modern, and my room was very comfortable. The breakfast was outstanding with plenty of choice, and it was a nice touch that a fruit plate was left in my room to thank me for choosing to stay for several nights.

I loved the location of this hotel. Right behind Wangfujing Road and a mall under the hotel which was accessible through the hotel as well. The hotel was also on a waking distance (+/- 20 min) to the Tianamen Square/Forbidden City. Metro was also on the corner, but we did not use this. Another thing that we loved was the breakfast! I have been in many 5 star hotels with great breakfast, but this was really great!

This hotel had the BEST staff of all the places I stayed in China - super friendly & professional. They all spoke English really well, were so knowledgeable about Beijing & the local area, & helped me with so many things. The hotel was also in a great location - central & within walking distance of 2 subway stations.

Lovely hotel near the centre of Beijing, nice enclosed courtyard with a bar and draught beers. Courtyard also has a washer/dryer for clothes that’s free to use. Speaking Chinese is a bonus (obviously), but if you don’t speak Chinese they have translation services for tourists.
