Hotel Caribe Ottimo 8,2 this 5 star hotel is located at Bocagrande in Cartagena. The staff welcomes you as if you are a long lost family member, you feel at home right from the start. within the hotel you find a beautiful garden with all kind of trees for the younger (and older) ones there are tags placed near the trees with the names. there are even some deer running around. Great swimming pool with coctailbar. Exellent breakfast buffet with live cooking. We (2 grandparents with 2 grandchildren) really enjoyed our stay here.
Hotel San Pietro Ottimo 8,5 Place is cute (if a little kitschy) and comfortable!

Casa Relax Buono 7,9 The hotel is really nice and I would definitely recommend it to anyone! It looks even nicer than in the pictures! I was also totally happy with my room (I got a double room at the second floor, with air conditioner). Staff is friendly and helpful and the swimming pool is a bliss in the hot Cartagena! It is also very near the "ciudad amurallada" and the neighborhood Getsemani has its own charm... I was not sure before about booking a hotel in this neighborhood as a solo female traveler, but after researching a lot I decided to do it and I don't regret. Prices are a bit cheaper there than in the main city center and you get a bit more of a real Cartagena (although it is becoming very touristic as well). While you walk by you see local people that actually live there, you see their houses, their habits, so you don't feel only like in a "city museum". Mostly I felt safe walking alone. Only fear moment was when I decided to walk to the city center by myself on a sunday evening (around 8 or 9 pm). Nothing happened, but I guess it was not a wise choice. You take around 10 minutes to reach the city center by foot, but you have also to cross a sort of big avenue, a business district that had a lot of homeless and a bit strange folks at that day/time... It was of course really empty and not to be alone I sort of followed a couple that luckily was walking in the same direction. While walking in the small streets of Getsemani I did not feel unsafe, just while crossing this avenue area. After that you reach the old town, full of bars, hotels, tourists and safety. Easy peasy! On the way back I got a taxi - that costed like 5 or 6000 Pesos (around 2 euros), I guess. On my last day, the hotel staff also allowed me to stay 30 minutes more on my room after checkout time, so I could enjoy swimming pool a bit longer. I really appreciated that. Cartagena is so nice and the islands near by as well!
