Sunset Hotel Very good 8.4 I'll be honest, when I made my reservation my expectations were low. I believe they were equal to what I was paying. I've traveled the world for the last 6 years and have been to 32 different countries and lived my professional life out of a suitcase. I've stayed in several hundred hotels (no exaggeration) and I will with confidence state that this hotel is my #1 experience over the years! I've read some of the comments and 1 or 2 mentioned the "not well decorated rooms" or "far from central (downtown)". My opinion is that you're not paying 5 star prices so, why expect 5 star hotel accommodations?? It is very clean, well maintained, air conditioned, comfortable and sufficiently large in size. As far as the distance to downtown.....when you stay in town you almost always tend to miss the other parts of the island (your vacation) and the end of the island where the Sunset Hotel is located is absolutely beautiful and peaceful (exactly what you would want from a tropical vacation). Besides people, the island is smaller than most of the neighborhoods we live in in the states, how "far away" is it really?!?!?! Let's not get crazy. I was fortunate enough to have an experience that may have extended beyond most guests. The reason for that is I chose to take time to begin a friendship with the family that owns the hotel. I did more than just appreciate their good nature in passing. I had numerous conversations, including lunch and dinner with them and had the privilege of getting to know them as locals that were raised the "island way". In exchange I learned so many things about the island and it's history and was introduced to other great locals who taught me even more. A majority of my literally "life changing" experience was largely due to the Archbold family that owns and operates the hotel. I have already made my next reservation for November before I even left the hotel.
