Sueño Celeste B&B Wonderful 9.4 The cabin was very comfortable and the gardens beautiful. We were so happy at this hotel! Breakfast was also amazing!
Celeste Mountain Lodge Wonderful 9.2 The staff, the accommodations, the food, the mountain and trails - all first class.
Cataratas Bijagua Lodge Very good 8 Really beautiful resort in a quite area, very clean big! rooms/lodges, very comfy beds, huge shower space (shower with hot water), very good breakfast, friendly and helpful staff. Def happy we stayed there! Perfect if you are heading to Rio Celeste nearby
Tenorio Lodge Wonderful 9 Sunrise beside the volcanoes. Very good delicious local food. Helpful hostess.
Finca Verde Lodge Very good 8.5 Finca Verde Lodge, hands down, has been our favorite stay in Costa Rica, and that's after being here a month already. This may not be the case for everyone, but the setting was beyond what I had hoped for when imagining the lush, colorful, rain forests of this country. Located in the less touristy town of Bijagua, just outside Tenorio Volcano National Park, it is tucked away about 1 km up the hill from the main town. (A 9 km ride from town brings you to the National Park entrance and the trailhead to the cyan-colored Rio Celeste, one of the most spectacular natural wonders in the country.) Family owned and run, with an employee or two, we were first greeted by a groundskeeper who immediately found Jonathan to check us in. This easy going young man somehow got us all squared away without a word of English (he knows how to communicate with foreigners like us) and later he became our waiter and above all our introduction to the wildlife on this amazing property. This includes a six-month-old sloth named Martina (see uploaded photo of Jonathan holding her) hundreds of birds and a glorious Garden that comprises the property grounds. The Lodge is a work in progress. It was a nature farm originally and lodging and the restaurant have been added recently. They are making gradual infrastructure improvements but I personally hope it stays like it is for the most part. By staying at this lodge we were entitled, at no extra cost, to enjoy all aspects of the original business including the butterfly garden (amazing) small reptile and frog enclosure. And the many trails and plant species available on the property. There is a guide named Daniel who will enthusiastically give you the tour and answer all your questions. I believe there are only four rooms at the lodge presently. We stayed in the toucan room. The setting is rustic but the room, while basic, was very clean when we arrived.
Casitas Tenorio Excellent 8.9 This was the highlight of our trip. Beautiful place, amazing owners, best breakfast in CR. They can sugest you nice plsces to visit and sustainable local and amazing tours at a good price. Home away from home.

Hotels that guests love in Bijagua

    • Beautiful garden grounds with adorable little bungalows/cabins. Close to rio Celeste entrance.

    • We just returned from Sueño. We had no car, and where there on Christmas. The owners helped us get a cab, including riding in the back of a pickup to the Tonorio park XMas Eve. They gave accurate directions, pointing us to a road less traveled, where we did indeed see Toucans, as advised. Also an aardvark on a tree, unexpectedly. For nature-lovers who value a quality, quiet experience, Sueño Celeste is perfect.

    • I can't say enough about the beauty and attention to detail of Tenorio Lodge. The service was impeccable, the room zen-like and elegant, the food simple but delicious, and the surroundings of lush rainforest gardens simply sublime. We had an awesome day of hiking at the Tenorio Volcano National Reserve and fell in love with the Rio Celeste Waterfalls and lagoon. It may be "low season" but the cool temperatures and the rain actually made for a more delicious experience. We will be back!

    • I love that the staff was very informative and helpful. The staff was extremely knowledgeable of area. There wasn't transportation to Rio Celeste but the hotel manager provided us transportation(for a fee). There were nearby restaurants that were extremely affordable. We had my 8 year old daughter with us and she loved it there. It definitely has a family friendly environment.

    • Really beautiful resort in a quite area, very clean big! rooms/lodges, very comfy beds, huge shower space (shower with hot water), very good breakfast, friendly and helpful staff. Def happy we stayed there! Perfect if you are heading to Rio Celeste nearby
