La Quinta Sarapiqui Lodge, hotel in Sarapiquí

Located in Sarapiquí, 23 miles from La Paz Waterfall, La Quinta Sarapiqui Lodge provides accommodations with free bikes, free private parking, a garden and a shared lounge.

Facilities were great with a pool and trails. We were warned as regards a lack of wifi in rooms, but once in the lobby, it was fine. The lobby area was well equipped with games. We didn't have any complaints about the food. Staff helped book white water rafting, which we'd highly recommend. Our transfer unexpectedly turned up early and before breakfast, but staff ran around putting us up a takeaway breakfast - very much appreciated!

La Selva Biological Station, hotel in Sarapiquí

Located in Sarapiquí, 0.6 mi from La Selva Biological Station main area, the lodge has a garden and a shared lounge at the dining hall, as well as free WiFi.

Being in the middle of a beautiful protected ecosystem where one can explore the wonders of nature and take advantage of the expert guides from the station is simple amazing. It is inspiring to be around all the young people who are there studying, too. The accommodations are basic but clean and the 15 minute walk to and from the dining area is truly a bonus! Just be sure to have your raincoat or an umbrella at all times. At night fireflies and the orange lights of flying beetles will help light your way. Magical! The food was a complete surprise. The chef is supremely talented and the meals were varied, nutritious and simply delicious. They serve you buffet style so you can request the appropriate portion for your need. Everything is ecologically sound. It is a hot and humid place but the showers are excellent and I just imagined standing under a cool waterfall before bedtime! With the good fans over each bed it is possible to sleep well. Excellent and inexpensive laundry service on sight. The boat trip down the Sarapiqui river is very nice, too. We saw many creatures…cayman, crocodiles, iguanas plus SO many birds.

Mirador Prendas, hotel in Sarapiquí

Featuring a garden, Mirador Prendas is located in Sarapiquí, within 5 mi of La Selva Biological Station. Complimentary WiFi is available. Fishing can be enjoyed nearby.

I felt like I had a good sense of this incredible destination from other reviews and was not disappointed. It's stunning and well-worth the rugged journey. The views are breath-taking and the wildlife abundant, from the 3 toucans who greeted us outside the bedroom window on our arrival, to the howler monkeys, cows, and countless other birds and creatures. We stayed two nights with our college-aged children and planned for a rest day on the property in between, but there was too much right there to see and explore for any resting! Our horseback riding tour was a highlight-- calm and confident horses and friendly capable guides-- I highly recommend. The night tour through the jungle was fascinating for most of us, and slightly frightening for one of us. ;-) We were well taken care-of, generous hospitality, and delicious meals. Our entire Costa Rican experience was amazing, and Mirador Prendas was the top of the list.

Sarapiquis Rainforest Lodge, hotel in Sarapiquí

Offering an on-site restaurant and Palenque-style design, Sarapiquis Rainforest Lodge is located in Heredia. It offers an outdoor swimming pool, free Wi-Fi and a tour desk.

The lodge is very unique. The rooms are in traditional styled huts. Each hut has about 6 rooms inside, and the rooms are decorated with indigenous artwork. Each room has its own seating outside. The grounds are beautiful and very interesting to explore, set amidst an archeological site. The restaurant serves delicious food and has lovely open views. The on-site infinity pool is stunning. The lodge is next to a rainforest nature reserve with a river and hanging bridges. The staff were very helpful and accommodating. Highly recommended.

Tirimbina Rainforest Lodge, hotel in Sarapiquí

This lodge is set in the Tirimbina Nature Reserve and 1.2 mi from De la Virgen Park. It features free Wi-Fi, an extensive garden and a furnished terrace.

The wildlife to be seen on the grounds is still top notch - birds, sloths, frogs, monkeys all in residence. The bridge is quite the experience to cross with a decent amount of trails on the other side. We enjoyed the chocolate tour and guide was very good identifying wildlife along the way. Guarded parking lot was nice to have.

Sarapiqui is a busy town, the commercial hub for the local area. We really enjoyed an excellent river trip, the guide was knowledgable and entertaining. We stayed at nearby Selva Verde using our own Hire Car to get around, driving is easy enough although this is a major highway

A stunning adventure with lots of memories. Woke up to howler monkeys chatting in the treetops above my cabin. Great hikes, beautiful views. Guides are super knowledgeable and enthusiastic to be there. Something that's extra great? The employees--the guides, the cooks, etc.--all seem genuinely happy. It's clear that they're well taken care of and appreciated!

While there are many Adventure tours available, we opted for the birding activities. We took one guided tour at Tirimbina and one at La Selva. Both provided unique species and I highly recommend taking the extra time to also go to La Selva. Air Conditioning is highly recommended to help you stay comfortable after a day in the heat and humidity, which the region is known for.

We visited Sarapiquí in 2010 and we wanted to return. What we have found (in a period of 10 years), has been a significant increase of tourism and the expansion of the urban areas in the town. Now, there are more people living in Sarapiquí.

    People were very friendly .

People were very friendly . Not much English speaking but we got by. We got out into the country with locals and really had a good time. A jungle tour is a must as it is still a lot of raw areas left. Great bird watching. It is not as hot as the beach areas and roads and driving is quite nerve wracking at times.

Amazing and immersive rainforest experience. The forest itself is the true star of the show. The diversity of wildlife is outstanding. It was so special to have the researchers for the guides (you get a free morning tour if you stay there and we paid for a night tour). We saw and learned so much. we stayed for two nights with full board and loved every moment. Its not a hotel and we really enjoyed that it was something different. We embraced it as a place for learning and enjoyed that everyone was there for the same reason.

Everything was literally outside your front door. We did not have to go on the trails to find any of the animals. They were in the trees surrounding the property. The restaurant was reasonably priced (actually cheap for a hotel) and had something for everyone. The guides were nice and knowledgeable. the hotel staff friendly and helpful. The roofs are made of a material so you really hear the rain which I liked. In the morning you can open your curtains and look outside and you feel like you are in the rainforest because you are.

The location is central in Sarapiqui but the property goes deep into forest, so rather than just traffic, there are birds and howler monkeys to hear. There is lots of room in the suite and a comfortable balcony looking into the forest. Water is hot and AC as well as a fan. Fan is sufficient for sleeping. The attached restaurant is handy and closes at 9 or 10 p.m. Included breakfast was good. Available before 7 a.m., but larger buffet from 7-9 a.m.. Pool area had both sun and shade areas as well as a change room.

This place was so beautiful! When we arrived they had fruit "cocktail" drinks for us that were delicious! (and free!)... The staff made us feel like celebrities. The place is gorgeous with Bambu walkways above the ground. You almost feel like you're in a tree house. The staff was super prompt and helpful. The free breakfast was freshly prepared and also delicious. We wished we had booked more nights here! This was only 20 minutes from the sarapiqui Outdoor Center where we had an amazing time rafting!

We had an amazing stay. The location of the house is perfect, surrounded by nature. Many birds and other animals to see! Wendy and her family are so kind. Breakfast and dinner, made by Rita, tasted really good. Oso the dog showed us the way to a beautiful waterfall and swimming place nearby. Sarapiqui is a nice region, a lot of nature to explore without crowds. Don't hesitate, just book this place. You won't regret it.

A nice lodge with very spacious but scarcely furnished rooms. The walking trails are nice and give you a first glimpse into a tropical forest. The food in the restaurant was good. We chose the hotel for its proximity to La Selva Research Station. The location is pleasant and quiet. We would stay here again.

It's very atypical. The houses in the shape of large huts are very nice and the vegetation is very present all around. The infinity pool is very beautiful. But what we really liked was the location. Tirimbina Park is accessible from the hotel. Awesome.
