Dive into this vibrant multicultural capital – where you can still experience the historical traces of a city once split into east and west.
Affectionately known as ‘Prenzlberg’, this former working-class district in East Berlin began the 1990s as a run-down area inhabited mainly by students and those who couldn’t afford to live elsewhere. But street by street, café by café and club by club, Prenzlauer Berg has become Berlin’s trendiest district, with organic food shops and designer workshops frequented by affluent young professionals. View hotels.
Meaning ‘centre’, Mitte is the location of the capital’s main historic attractions, such as Museum Island, the Brandenburg Gate, the Reichstag, Unter den Linden Boulevard, Checkpoint Charlie and Potsdamer Platz. View hotels.
Situated in the shadow of the Berlin Wall, the districts of Kreuzberg and Neukölln were once the most remote enclaves of West Berlin. Today, however, this diverse and multicultural district has become somewhat gentrified and hosts Berlin’s annual Karneval der Kulturen (Carnival of Cultures) parade. All year round, the area’s authentic cafés and restaurants are abuzz with residents and tourists alike. View hotels.
Berlin is generally a gay-friendly place, and nowhere more so than in Schöneberg, which retains its traditional and somewhat understated charm. View hotels.
This district in West Berlin is famous for the ICC Exhibition Centre, Olympic Stadium and the glamorous Kurfürstendamm (KuDamm) shopping street. It still has its fair share of elegant hotels and spacious Berlin-style residential buildings with beautiful façades. Other attractions include the bombed Kaiser-Wilhelm Memorial Church, the world-famous KaDeWe department store and Berlin Zoo. View hotels.
Home to the iconic Brandenburg Gate and the famous Fernsehturm at Alexanderplatz, Berlin is a renowned global city of culture, commerce and politics. Its eclectic architecture is visual and exciting proof of its fascinating history.
In 'Mitte', the city’s historical centre, you can find the famous Museum Island with the exquisite Pergamon Museum, as well as popular cafés, restaurants and clubs. The nearby Potsdamer Platz, once divided in two by the Berlin Wall, features great examples of ultramodern architecture and stunning night illumination.
Berlin is the best place to try the famous Currywurst or jelly doughnuts, the Pfannkuchen. Explore the city’s bustling nightlife, famous festivals and parades, or simply walk through charming neighbourhoods like Prenzlauer Berg. Berlin is always full of things to do and see!
Combining a vibrant culture and art scene, sites of historic interest like the Reichstag, and great shopping opportunities, the German capital truly is a symbol of a modern and unified Europe.
Travelling to the city centre from Tegel International and Schönefeld Airports is a piece of cake using Berlin’s reliable public transit system. Whether you are looking for a cheap hostel, alternative apartment or a chic hotel, Booking.com has a perfect room for your Berlin holiday.
“we had a good time ,th location was great the hotel staff were very kind...no doubt we wiil choose this hotel again!!”
“The bed was very comfortable although the room was a little small. I also found they had a plug point by the bed for your phone which is an absolute rarity in hotels Breakfast staff were also very attentive”
“Staff was very helpful in providing services, such tickets for transportation and museums. They called us a cab whenever needed.”
“Perfect location, about 10 mins walk from Alexanderplatz. The hotel is elegant and extremely clean, inside restaurand and (good) bar. Prices for inner services are totally affordable, even the room service was okay. Rooms are an okay size and very clean, as the bathroom. The staff is very kind and efficient, my request of early check in was approved. Recommended!”
“All. The room was nice and confortable, also very clean. It's a great thing having a kettle in the room. The location is also fantastic: the u-bahn is really close to the hotel; nearby you have good shops and also a lot of places to eat. We really became fans of Leonardo Hotel!”
“CONVENIENT FOR MY CONFERENCE. THE HOTEL IS LIKE A SMALL MALL, CAN DO EVERYTHING IN THE HOTEL. LOVE THE GARDEN IN FRONT OF THE HOTEL.”
“I've stayed at various Generator hostels but Berlin Prenzlauer would have to be my favourite by far, I've stayed in 5 star hotels but prefer the atmosphere of staying in hostels, I've made so many friends including staff, hostel is clean, very close to the S Bahn and tram (less than 1 min walk).”
“Great staff. Location is top drawer.”
“Helpful and friendly reception staff. Fantastic bar and great room. Could not fault this hotel”
“Good baggage hold. Friendly, helpful staff, good communal kitchen facilities, good location to city centre, Hackescher Markt and Museum Island. Also walking distance from Berlin Central Train station (<=20 walk)”
“great hotel, great location . The matrix club is across- the best club we have been in .”
“very close to Alexandrplatz and the railway station, it's not like a hostel, it's like a great huge hotel with smiling stuff, very good decorated. Rooms are very clean and there is a free wifi. You may chill out in the lobby if you say there "lobby" =) like a living-room. It's fun! (ps: there is locker if you need)”
“Comfy, friendly, super service, nice breakfest with only 5 eur. Could not have been more satisfied! I have already booked a new trip here!”
“Friendly staff, they let us leave the luggage until the evening. The breakfast was delicious. Even though there was very old furniture in our room it was nice and clean. Right next to the hotel is S-Bahn station so we didn't have problem to get to the city centre. We will definitely stay there next time we are in Berlin :)”
“As we arrived after 8 pm the closeness of the hotel to airport is perfect. Value for money in everything. Size of the room for 2 person is perfect. Wifi and tv excellent . A lot of eating areas including "halal" food. Transportation in & out to berlin city centre perfect.”
“Situated in a quiet street just a few metro stops from the city centre, this hotel offered a good night sleep, probably the best we had in Germany, in a beautiful old building with matching retro decor. Iranian rugs were a nice touch. The owners are lovely, always at your service and ready to help with anything. Would defo stay here again. Metro station is less than 5 mins on foot.”
“Very friendly staff, close to the metro station (hotel is not in the city centre), supermarket LIDL only few minutes walk from the hotel, very good value for the money, excellent breakfast, if i visit once again Berlin i would stay again in this hotel”
“The hotel is very good located, just a 200m from Berlin main station. Close the city centre. They offer free public transportation ticket which is great!”
