Good for a one night stay. Walk in shower was superb. Room very spacious. Restaurant waiter very helpful. Breakfast in bakery next door, also owned by the hotel owners, was very good and fresh. Interesting small town steeped in the Villeroy Boch Pottery empire if you have time to look around.

We technically stayed in Orscholz, which is a smaller hamelt of Mettlach. It's right where the Saarschleife is as well as a number of biking and hiking trails. We only did the Saarschleife and the Spielplatz, but could have spent a couple days there!

Mettlach is a charming small town in Germany with many good shops. The church is also impressive. There are a lot of very nice hikes easily accessible from there offering tranquility and interesting landscape alongside the river Saar, for example. A quiet place with all we needed.
A quiet place with all we needed. A good place to do sightseeing, by bike, on foot, by car. Great place to be in the garden as well. Not a lot of eating places but the kitched is well equiped. You can easily cycle into Luxembourgh or France.JoannekeNetherlands - 10Scored 10

Mettlach's situation by the Rive Saar is excellent and the local shipping company has reasonably priced river trips. It has an unusual number of 'outlet' shops e.g. Villeroy & Boch, Laura Ashley, Land's End etc. The Altstadt has a number of restaurants and Eiscafes and it is only 6km to the Saarschleife & Treetop walk at Orscholz. There are many ruined castles, a Roman Villa at Perl, the Saarburg Waterfall, a defensive war-time Bunker at Besseringen and remains of the Siegfried Line.TerenceUnited Kingdom

The building was constructed with excellent materials: oak parquet floors. marble wainscotting. coffered wooden beam ceilings in the public rooms. All the tableware at dinner and breakfast in the formal dining rooms are excellent: not a surprise when I learned that it owned by the Villeroy & Boch company, whose factory in Mettlach makes it all!Peter BUnited States

The owner of the house is very friendly and accommodating. The beds were comfortable, the bathroom has everything you need. We particularly enjoyed the location of Mettlach and its proximity to some really stupendous estates of the Villeroy & Boch company and family. The Saar river is also a definite plus. I definitely recommend.
