It is what it says on the tin: 'an der Strasse' means on the road. In this case the road is a long distance transcontinental highway since the middle ages for trade from the Iberian peninsular into central and Eastern Europe; one of a view East - West connections in this mountainous region. Steinau, like most of its neighbours in the valley is a historic staging post, but has lost most of its medieval charme to modern traffic requirements and some local industry. There are some nice corners, but not worth a major detour.
