A real gem. Atmospheric little town perched on coast with great views of bay. Good beach, clean water. Coastal town walk, outdoor bar in little park. Lively place, families enjoying the atmosphere.
Good train service to Bilbao and other worthwhile places.

A great little town.
A great little town. We were there during summer and tour de france so we had a lot of options for things to do. Great beach, cute little fair type thing near the marina with rides for kids. We don't surf but it is very popular for that with more than one school.

Mundaka was a great place to visit, plenty of walks, different places to swim, friendly locals, good pintxos, food and great wine.
Great bakery on the main road and a couple of little market shops and a bigger one up towards the station.
Definitely get the train into Bermeo, very quick and efficient.

Mundaka is a small port town on the basque coast, and one feels this at every turn. You can walk across the town in 3 minutes, and the sleepy village comes alive at night with restaurants full and people enjoying views of the sea.
The entire port area is beautiful, with a large park and an old church right on the water. This is the perfect spot for watching surfers when they are out on the waves.
There are plenty of good restaurants in town, although many of them seemed to be closed for the season. We ate at one of the restaurants right next to the port. It was a good experience - good service and a great atmosphere, but the food was simply good. When I say good, I do, in fact, mean good. We had been traveling across the north of Spain for a few days and had had very good luck with our food choices, so our expectations had been unreasonably inflated. Overall, a great meal!
I'd 100% recommend Mundaka to anyone looking for a moment to unwind and enjoy breathtaking views of the sea!

The apartment is built above a tidal area next to the church, so the location is incredible. Half the day, during high tide, you are living over the sea. The ocean view is stupendous and surfers have their own paddle out cove to access the world famous waves. We would have preferred softer pillows and some shower soap, and maybe a kettle to boil water. The host is very helpful, arrival instructions are clear, parking can be reserved for a fee. An excellent choice for surfers and those who want to experience the sea.

Mundaka is a beautiful Basque fishermans villa sitting on top of one of the world knarliest lefthander wave. When it's pumping you can watch the surfers take their beatings from the harbor wall. An unique sight.
Firstly I have to say that the place is absolutely amazing; the view, the ocean nearby, city centre with bars and restaurants just around the corner, but at the same time it's very calm and quiet neighbourhood. The apartment itself is great and contains all the essentials needed, moreover it is clean and comfortable. Mikel, the host is such a nice person, helpful, easygoing and always ready to make your stay even more enjoyable. Me and my family spent a great time in Mundaka Sea Flat and we will definitely come back someday.
Everything in the flat was clean and new and it all worked. The location is excellent, a few yards from a sheltered and gently sloping beach, minutes from the old harbour and food and drink outlets and a good range of shops. The train station is close by and the journey in either direction is a joy. During summer months there are parking restrictions but the host has a solution. My trip was in October so it wasn't an issue. Mundaka is in the heart of the Unesco biosphere reserve and has a lot of surfing activity.
Hotel Atalaya was so charming, also the front desk person, also the town of Mundaka. The hotel was built in 1911 and retains its charm of the era - while having all the modern comforts for a stay. We loved the atmosphere of our room - soothing colors and seaside vibe. Breakfast was excellent. The free parking is a real bonus. Everything in Mundaka is walkable from Hotel Atalaya. We only wish we had been able to stay longer, and would love to return.
I loved the sea view, definitely worth the extra bit for that balcony overlook. The room was perfectly tidy, just like a higher end hotel here in the USA (but obviously much cheaper). The bathroom and all the small details were very well taken care of. And the host was incredibly attentive and responsive when I had some hiccups here and there. Thanks again for such a great visit! Definitely will be choosing again.
..a property of Hotel El Puerto..Jon as great..came over quickly to let us in..clean with beautiful wood floors..spacious with wrap around terrace..food reasonably priced at El Puert Hotel..it was very hard to find condo via Google maps which left us 300 meters away at train station. .suggest getting directions from highway from Jon. Beds were the most comfy in 3 weeks of travels.
The Hotel was lovely, comfortable and clean. The Hotel team were extremely helpful and friendly. WE spent a lot of time on the terrace in front of the hotel, enjoying the views with great food and drink from the hotel.
The location in in the centre of everything and it was great to look out the balcony doors at the activity down around the harbour.
Breathtaking views, comfortable beds, right in the town center and 200m from the beach. We really enjoyed our stay and the kindness of our host who arranged a late check out for us. Mundaka is just perfect for surfing but please mind the river might scare beginner surfers. Will come back :)
The staff at Apartamentos Mundaka were very helpful in making sure that we were able to access our apartment even though we were arriving so late at night due to airline delays. The apartment was very clean, and conveniently located near a beautiful beach. Thank you for accommodating us.
everything! Mundaka has a special connection to me & my family, i surfed here back in the 70’s & holds special memories for all sorts of reasons,to have a room right on the port looking over the port was fantastic. thanks Mundaka for generally staying the same for 50 years
We loved the location looking out on Mundaka beach and so close to the sea as well as bars and restaurants. The feel of the apartment was also lovely with its sea charts and vintage furniture. Great to arrive somewhere with such a fantastic book selection. Nice shower!
Good location on the edge of the village, easy to park (there is a parking spot that comes with the apartment, but you need to get the key first to get into it). I ended up just parking in a public parking space near the Mundaka hostel. Communicative hosts.
Location is ok because we were at the heart of Mundaka village, but that's a nightmare to drive in the village. We had a chance to meet a great student lady who worked there and did everything she can with the car park.
Super cosy, comfortable, cute, modern. One of a kind accomodation. Had everything you need. Right in the heart of the old town, the port and Mundaka Surf break. My favourite town ❤️
Extremly nice Host and best location in Mundaka. The room was equiped with totally new furniture. Very big bed and clean bathroom etc. Woul come back any time! Thanks :)
Room with exceptional view of Mundaka and the bay. Appreciated the doors that opened out onto the balcony to enjoy the sea breeze and the exceptional view.
