Playa Blanca is the newest, and arguably quietest, large resort on Lanzarote, which makes it popular with families. It is partially sheltered from the Atlantic winds by the dormant Montaña Roja volcano, and volcanic rock lines its sandy beaches which are spread around a bay.
There are 3 main beaches: Playa Dorada which is popular for watersports, Playa Blanca – the most peaceful, and Playa Flamingo which is overlooked by shops, bars and restaurants serving locally caught seafood. Further east the long stretches of sand give way to the rocky Papagayo Coves whose beautiful scenery is depicted on many a postcard.
A promenade linking the 3 beaches is lined with luxury hotels and resorts available on Booking.com, many offering all inclusive options and some even have their own water park. There are also lots of cheap apartments and private villas in Playa Blanca, some of which overlook Marina Rubicon. The Castillo de las Colorados watchtower sits on a rugged piece of headland looking across the Atlantic Ocean towards the hilly terrain of Fuerteventura.
Ferries to this neighbouring Canary Island depart from just across the bay and offer beautiful views back across the whitewashed buildings towards the mountains behind Playa Blanca.

The walk along the shoreline into Playa Blanca from our hotel near the lighthouse to the marina was very pleasant. Although most nights we ate in the hotel, we also ate in an Italian on Calle Irlande near the lighthouse. It was called Gustos and I would highly recommend it - the food was exceptional and the service and decor was lovely and you must book as it was also very popular. We also ate in another Italian called Avenida 55 which was much more simple in decor but the food was delicious and great value for money.
Taxis were plentiful and very reasonable.

The beaches in playa Blanca are gorgeous yellow sand. The town is Great for shopping, and restaurants, coffee shops You can get a bus that goes to many other towns on the island. You can get many tours over the island from Playa Blanca.
The sunsets October to December are stunning. Always about 22 degrees and no mosquitoes. A fabulous place to go to in uk winter, to get some warmth and sunshine in only 4 hours flight

Cute town to stay while visiting island.
Cute town to stay while visiting island. Long promenade from port, through town to marina with restaurant, shops, bars... Playa Dorada is great if you like being with other people and if you park at the very west part of the town you can walk/hike to the Playa de Mujeres and have a very nice and much bigger beach almost to yourself. There are few very nice playgrounds for kids. You can rent electric scooters at almost every corner

I'd recommend hiring a car if you're the exploring type (unless you're a cyclist and want to explore by bike). We got a great deal which cost us less than a taxi to and from Arrecife would have cost us.
This allowed us to go all over the island to landmarks such as Timanfaya National Park, the salt flats, Jameos del Agua, Cueva de los Verdes, the vineyards in La Geria and many more.
Casa Carlos near the marina is probably the best restaurant we visited. We also heard good things about Los Hervideros, but it was closed on the day we wanted to go there.
The restaurants on Calle Irlanda to the west of town were great the last time we visited (pre-COVID), but we were disappointed this time around.
Papagayo Beach is fantastic if you just want to soak up the sun and relax.
Montana Roja is a nearby extinct volcano that is easily hikeable.
We stayed at the Hotel Livvo Volcan which was fantastic and had excellent staff. The town centre is walkable (about 30 minutes) and it's right next to a market which is open on Wednesday and Saturday mornings (there is direct access to the market from the hotel if you bring your room card).

Several small town beaches available.
Several small town beaches available. All connected along the coastline by the Av. Maritima for pedestrians and bikes, secluded by hotels, restaurants and bars, in the old center a lot of shops, souvenirs and supermarkets. Everything spreaded along the southern end of Lanzarote. A nice place to stay, coming around easily by bus, bike, car or on foot. Bicycle is the best for the distances in the P.B. area.
Spacious two bedroom villa with all mod cons and decent size swimming pool in large patio area. Can use all the facilities of Hotel Volcan just over the road, but we preferred to just sit by the pool and chill. Ricardo the complex manager was very helpful and professional. The location is brilliant sitting just above Marina Rubicon where there’s a great selection of restaurants and shops. Playa Blanca centre is around 1km away though easily accessible by a cheap taxi if you don’t fancy the walk across the promenade.
The location is excellent near to Playa de Papagayo beach which is beautiful, local bars, shops and restaurants. The villa itself is ideal and has everything you need including a pool, 3 bathrooms and 3 bedrooms, in a nutshell it is ideal for a family wanting to be close to everything but also in a quieter location. The centre of Playa Blanca and the main marina is still only a few minutes away in a taxi or 25-30 minutes stroll along the coast.
Amazing Apartment with nice kitchen. Everything we needed was there! Really simple interior and lots of space. The garden is breathtaking. Super location, near the beach and restaurants+bars. We also drove to station Las Coloradas and then went to Papagayo beach by foot.

Playa Blanca is really beautiful and we would absolutely recommend staying at Casa Real.
Thank you for everything!
Very friendly staff which provided a great holiday atmosphere. Lovely large rooms in beautiful gardens. Great breakfast, other meals were fine too could be even better with a couple of tweaks. Although towards the back of Playa Blanca it's only 15 minutes walk to the start of the main area and 30 minutes to the main nightlife plus taxis are very cheap €4-5 euros to the main areas
Amazing hotel. Would love to return if we come back to Lanzarote. Super relaxing with lots of sunbathing and pool options. Felt very high end. Breakfast buffet was great. In the marina area of playa blanca which is more quiet than the more resorty main area. Which is about a 20 min walk away.
Wonderful Hotel, you can reach Playa Blanca in few minutes by car. Breakfast and dinner buffet with a great selection of food, you can choose cold dishes or they can prepare to you at the moment. In the evening you can enjoy a mojito with good music si the piano bar in the hotel.
Really liked our apartment, spacious, well-maintained, clean. Nice location, close to the ocean, amazing Italian restaurant nearby, not far from Playa Blanca, Playa del Papagayo and other attractions. There is a supermarket and bar next to the apartments. Quiet area.
Lovely sea view as requested. Well equipped kitchen. Flamingo Beach nearby is really beautiful. Fabulous sunsets. Lovely weather in early Nov - warm and sunny but not too hot. We declined the very frequent apartment cleaning offered and opted for privacy instead.
Location was perfect for the Rubicon Marina or a short walk in the other direction to the centre of Playa Blanca
Staff were very helpful and friendly.
The hotel was modern and stylish we had a junior suite which was very comfortable and spacious
The hotel is lovely, so clean rooms good. Mattress was so so comfy and the bed huge !!! Staff were all so lovely. Location, perfect only 5 min walk to a Strawberry Daquiri!!
This was meant to be a pit stop but il be back !!!
Fab new hotel since last we were in playa blanca. Friendly staff, well designed and set out with 9 pools including slides, family club and adults only. Privilege club lounge, spa and several bars, restaurants, and games room.
Excellent location within walking distance to the town / marina.
Breakfast staff were really good however a little variation in the food would have been appreciated, but a very good hotel.
Thank you.
This is an exceptional hotel and in a fantastic location in Playa Blanca. Great facilities amd staff welcomed and well treated throughout our stay. I cannot recommend highly enough.
