The flat was very clean. It's generally very modern and well-equipped. I believe the flat was recently renovated, so it feels very well-taken care of. Quick return of the deposit. I really enjoyed it and would stay here again, if I ever come back to Portbou (rather unlikely, though).

The lady manager at the desk never met a problem she couldn't fix. She found a taxi that found me on a small street in Portbau. She made sure I knew where everything was I asked about. The cleaning staff did an excellent job. The location of the room was perfect. I watched the beach when I was not swimming. I love the view of the full moon on the ocean for my room. The cost of the room was half what it was worth. The neighborhood was excellent. Less than a mile was restaurants, food stores and clothing stores if you want them. The people on the beach were friendly and very nice. Not much English spoken but the people understand enough to get what you want. I just can't say enough nice stuff about the lady at the front desk.

The hosts Carme y Joan and the hostal Totsompops were a welcome surprise for this solo traveler. Authentically kind and warm people. Will come back for sure... Espero veure't més aviat que tard! Also, both the dinner and breakfast were fit for a king/queen! Cafe con leche was the best ever, as was the shower head and water pressure!! The room took care for the smallest of details, and soooo clean! :} Gràcies per tot!

    The delightful Catalan town of Portbou, on the border with...

    The delightful Catalan town of Portbou, on the border with France is not as frequented by tourists as other towns on the Mediterranean coast and is highly recommended for a few days. The scenery, both towards the reddish rock hills surrounding Portbou and looking towards the rocky coastal areas is stunning, especially at sunrise and sunset. There are a few comfortable and reasonably priced hotels in the town as well as cosy cafés and shops. The train station is well-served by services to Barcelona-Sants and also Cerbere and southern France.

    Very nice, small village next to a beach and sufficiently...

    Very nice, small village next to a beach and sufficiently uncrowded to make it feel quiet and off the tourist track for the Costa Brava. Conveniently on the train line and food and drink not over priced. Some very nice, challenging walks with spectacular views of the Catalan and French coasts and a history that raises it above your average beach town. Be aware that there is only one supermarket in the town and it closes at 7 most nights.

    This is a very cute place, perfectly situated right in front of the beach, with a homely feel and very old pine tree inside the dining room. The owner and staff were very helpful and always available, the room was well sized with a private terrace and lots of light. In the end we ended up staying an extra night we loved it an portbou so much, and again the staff were very helpful with the last minute change. Will definitely be back soon!

    the woman who gave us the key was wonderful and very helpful even though we didn't speak Spanish very well. the apartment was very clean and nice, and was also comfortably for the night. everything was wonderful even though I booked last-minute day-of because my friend and I got stranded in Portbou

    Nice little hotel very close to the beach. It is a bit worn, but clean and comfortable nevertheless. Walking distance also from the Portbou train station for connections to France or Barcelona. Pizzeria on ground flour and some basic restaurants around the corner.
