No expectation because we were just pass-through travelers.
No expectation because we were just pass-through travelers. In fact the old city center is quite nice and they make a visible effort to make it an attractive place (office de tourisme of the region). As in many of the smaller towns in the countryside however it also shows the gentrification. Quite a lot of closed shops and small services that are closed or visibly suffering. Half a day for the town is enough. The surrounding environment however is very nice countryside, looks like great roads for cycling easy hills and also probably nice hiking.

It’s not fair for me to rate Belley as it was Easter...
It’s not fair for me to rate Belley as it was Easter holidays when we were there for the night. Having said that, we did find a place for a drink with the locals and dinner was kebabs. Best kebab I’ve ever had. Seriously. Cycling, we took the hard way to Belley and were treated to some lovely scenery.Mary V VAustralia

The secure motorcycle parking was top notch. Very good breakfast. Both the hotel and parking were easy to find and access on arrival in Belley.
