Dieppe is a town steeped in Medieval history and Gothic buildings. Cathedrals and churches which are beautiful. Dieppe is very expensive for food and drink especially. French people seem very polite and friendly and greet you with a smile... The food in various places was a bit disappointing for French Quisine. They do not cater for vegetarian diners very well... I am an English trained certified classic Chef who was taught to cook in the style of French Quisine and as such was often a little shocked that pomme fries were served up with almost at every meal and a lack of vegetables to accompany the order. No Dauphinoise potatoes or other potatoe dishes offered on menus. Shocked at chips everywhere. I myself am a former professional Classic trained French style Chef Surprised at the limited choice of Menu at the Cafe Les Tribuneux. One of the most famous restaurants in Dieppe.. Overall a friendly hustly bustly little town oozing with plenty of charm good atmosphere & hospitality. I would still recommend Dieppe as a nice place to visit for travellers. There is a great Fruit and Vegetable market on Saturdays also farmers selling fresh cheeses and other produce. The market also sells clothes and leather goods, bags & purses. Dieppe is an unsung holiday destination. The expansive Saturday morning market is worth going for alone! It has a plethora of good restaurants and bars (take a bow "Au Bout La Bas"), a beautiful and very big beach, a fascinating history, and a brilliant swimming complex next to the beach. It also makes a great base for exploring the surrounding areas and towns such as Rouen and Etretat.

Dieppe is beautiful with harbour walks and beach walks in horizontal streets. The castle is stunning at night and the harbour lights are incredible. There are lots of cafes and restaurants along the harbour. We went to one and they were unfriendly…. Quay 11. Food was ok but kind of hostile service. Most folks were pleasant. In the street leading from the harbour there is a lovely restaurant Les Tribunaur,, with friendly staff and easy relaxed eating and drinking. But lots of choices so shop around. There is a tourist train which is a 45 minute ride all around the city and up to the castle. At 8 euros it’s a great buy. Boat trips along the coast daily too.NessaUnited Kingdom - 8.0Scored 8.0

It is the first time that we visited Dieppe and we loved it.
It is the first time that we visited Dieppe and we loved it. The old town, the atmosphere of an old port town by the sea, the sea itself, the cliffs, the delicious seafood :))) It is wonderful to take walks around the old town, by the sea or to nearby villages. We enjoyed the 45-minute promenade en mer on the boat. The sea museum near port Musée Estran Cité de la Mer is very interesting and worth visiting. We also took long walks to nearby villages Puys, Purville sur Mer and Varengeville sur Mer and they're all great in their own unique way with beautiful views and interesting places to visit. There are fish markets where you can buy fresh fish and seafood. We especially liked shopping in Ho Fruits de la Mer where the prices are a lot lower and everything is fresh and delicious. Our kids of 9 and 11 years old enjoyed the visit a lot, too. The weather in Normandy is often rainy and windy but not a problem. You should just be aware of it and have the right clothes and shoes and an umbrella.

We stayed here for one night because central Dieppe hotels were fully booked and had limited expectations but were very pleasantly surprised. All staff were helpful and friendly, and helped especially when we arrived ahead of check-in time. The room had a proper table for drinks and snacks with two dining chairs, comfy bed, and was surprisingly quiet considering the location near a main roundabout. The secure bike storage was excellent. Good breakfast selection.

Our room was large with comfortable beds, very clean and secure (there is a room safe). You can walk in a few moments to many bars and restaurants, but the hotel is quiet. Private parking is available a minute away and at a reasonable cost. You can park on the streets but Dieppe is popular and places can be hard to find and less secure. The terrace and health spa a peaceful.
