We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Shaftoe's. We were only there for one night, but we still felt like honoured guests, such was the warmth and authenticity of Dave and Lois' hospitality. They have evidently put so much thought into how to run a B&B well, as though they have taken the best of all the places they've ever stayed themselves and used those ideas at Shaftoe's.

The George Hotel could be great but it lacks the final polish. It is in a very picturesque position and more should be made of it. The cuisine should be reviewed as at present it is not acceptable. Service is good but the hotel lacks the personal feeling. If it makes the effort and up's it's approach to customer satisfaction it will be a great hotel and a great venue for functions like weddings etc

The trip was planned to view Roman architecture in Chollerford and the surrounding area, should have allocated an extra day. So much to see. Very helpful staff at the English Heritage sites. Great area to visit.

Beautiful surroundings and a good location for visiting loads of local attractions. Sitting in the garden with a glass of wine and soaking up the view was brilliant. The hotel staff were great and the whole place had a busy, buzzy feel. The only downside is the hotel needs redecorating.

It was a good place to stay for travelling around to visit different places, we have never been to Northumberland before but found it very interesting & we were very lucky with the weather which made it very pleasant for outside tours ECT.
I can’t shout enough that all the staff made the stay in this absolutely stunning hotel on the river bank and over looking the beautiful bridge, they really go out their way to make your stay happy and special. the rooms could do with a clean up and definitely the pool area needs to be made more attractive. the changing rooms are freezing dirty and dated so hopefully they will get to work on them soon. although the water itself is well maintained and a lovely pool to swim in!
We walked to Chollerford as part of our Hadrian's Wall hike. The hotel was clean, comfortable, and exactly what we needed after a long day of walking. Our room and bathroom were very modern and the views were fantastic. The pool onsite was very helpful for aching legs. We got the half board and thus worked out to be one of the cheaper places we stayed at along the wall, as we did not have to pay additional for dinner.
After reading reviews I wasn’t expecting it to be great but we stayed in room 315 and it was lovely. The bed was so comfy, shower was great, food was nice in the hotel & there was a pool & gym. We played the giant chess set in the garden. Staff were friendly
We stayed here for 1 night whilst completing the Hadrians Wall walk so the swimming pool was a welcome extra. The rooms were good despite being a little tired. The view from room overelooking the gardens and the river were lovely.
The hotel is in a lovely setting, the staff are very friendly and the bedrooms and public rooms are well appointed. The staff even surprised me with a specially decorated table for my birthday!
Lovely big room, clean, really friendly staff and the food was outstanding. The hotel has beautiful gardens right on the river lovely views of the country side
