FAQs about hotels in Glasgow

Fun-Loving and Forward Thinking

Scotland’s largest city, Glasgow combines Victorian architecture and a vibrant arts scene. A former European City of Culture, it is home to many national organisations including the Scottish Ballet and the National Theatre of Scotland. The museums are also world class. Not to be missed are the futuristic-looking Glasgow Science Centre and the eclectic exhibits at the Kelvingrove.

Lined with Georgian buildings, George Square is the city’s focal point and the spot for Glasgow Hogmanay celebrations. Fanning out from here are streets housing venues for the city’s main love: music. From classical concerts to up-and-coming bands, every taste is catered for.

As host of the 2014 Commonwealth Games, Glasgow is also a city of sport. Scotland’s 2 most iconic football clubs - Celtic and Rangers - are based here, as is the national football stadium Hampden Park. The Scottish Football Museum is also an excellent walk through the beautiful game.

Last but not least is the shopping in Glasgow. Shopping centres cover everything from high street brands to international designers. So when you fly into Glasgow Airport, make sure you’ve left enough space in your bags!

I LIKED VERY MUCH THE HOTEL WITH THE MOST FRIENDLY STAFF WHO...

I LIKED VERY MUCH THE HOTEL WITH THE MOST FRIENDLY STAFF WHO WENT OUT OF THEIR WAY TO HELP WITH WHATEVER. , THE DESIGN OF THE RECEPTION , BREAKFAST AREA, WFI TABLE AND SEATING ARRANGEMENTS, LOUNGE AND BAR , ALL OPEN PLAN SO NO ONE WAS SITTING ALONE OR FEELING ALONE. I LOVED AT FIRST ENTRY GLANCE, THE CHAIRS, LOTS OF THEM . SOME WERE QUAINT, LOW AND HIGH LEVEL , SOME WERE COVERED IN SHEEPS WOOL, I COULD GO ON FOREVER DESCRIBING THE CHAIRS, ALSO I TESTED THEM ALL FOR COMFORT FEELING THE DIFFERENT TEXURES OF MATERIAL. ALL GORGEOUS. ALSO FOR COMPANY 3 SHEEP BEAUTIFULLY CARVED WITH REAL SHEEPS WOOL COVERING THEM STANDING MAJESTICALLY AROUND THE ROOM. THIS WAS MY IDEA OF GLASGOW AS THE FEW DAYS I WAS THERE CENTERED AROUND THE MOTEL ONE HOTEL , AS MY PURPOSE OF BEING IN GLASGOW WAS TO WATCH THE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP IRISH DANCING AT THE SCOTTISH = SCC EVENT. THE SIGHTS OF GLASGOW WAS THROUGH THE WINDOWS OF THE TAXI'S WHICH TOOK ME TO THE VENUES AND BACK TO THE HOTEL. AS THIS WAS MY FIRST VISIT TO GLASGOW BUT DEFINITELY WON'T BE MY LAST AS LOOKING AT THE MOST BEAUTIFUL DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF THE BUILDINGS MAKES ME WANT TO INVESTIGATE MORE AT MY LEISURE SO I WILL BE BACK TO GLASGOW FOR A MORE LENGTHY STAY. THIS TIME, AS TIME WAS PRECIOUS I ATE AT WEATHERSPOONS RESTAURANT, JUST OVER . THE ROAD OUTSIDE THE HOTEL. CHOSE WHAT I KNEW BUT NEXT TIME I WILL VENTURE FURTHER TO SAMPLE THE EATING DELIGHTS OF GLASGOW.IT IS SO EASY TO GO PLACES IN GLASGOW AS TRANSPORT IS VARIED AND SO CLOSE AT HAND. BUSES, JUST OUTSIDE OF THE MOTEL, AROUND THE CORNER FROM THE MOTEL A TWO LEVEL RAILWAY STATION, VERY FREQUENT TRAINS, TAXIS , OPEN TOP BUSES. ALL TRANSPORT WITH CLEANLINESS IN MIND. WHAT WOULD I TRY TO AVOID --- RAIN --

One of my favourite UK cities to visit, Glasgow is always welcoming and the locals are friendly. Plenty to do in the city and very easy to get around. The bus station is nice and central if you are getting the shuttle bus from the airport and it only takes around half an hour to get there. If you're looking for culture and a fun city break, Glasgow would be a great option to choose.

Glasgow is an excellent city to visit.

Glasgow is an excellent city to visit. Really friendly people, complete strangers ask if you need help if the see you struggle with something. Although an historically industrial/shipping city the centre Merchant City has buildings to rival Rome. Whatever type of travelling you are doing the city can provide. Night life is vibrant.

Fascinating city, terrain is interesting, lots of history and things to do, very Scottish and if you like museums they're free here. It is a city that has lots of elevations, uneven surfaces and things that make it harder for older people, or those with mobility issues, to enjoy themselves. I was frequently walking in wet conditions and had to really watch where I was stepping, sidewalks and curbs are not uniform as they are back home. The surface materials can change and cracks and uneven surfaces meant I had to be very careful. If you suffer from arthritis the climate can trigger such conditions, but I was prepared for that and was still able to get around and enjoy my stay. I would suggest at least wearing compression knee high socks and excellent shoes for walking in, with good grips. I was impressed with all the restaurants and grocery stores that offer food for those with allergies, especially gluten free and they don't cost more money like they do back home. There are lots of interesting shopping especially around the city centre. The west end neighbourhood shopping areas were definitely more upscale and we loved the botanical gardens, Pollock Park and the highland cows!

we attended the Celtic Connections festival which was fabulous with various events all over the city. Went to see Dali's crucifixion painting which unfortunately was on loan somewhere, however the museum was exceptional and kept us engrossed for a day. There are many places to eat and drink which without exception were very good. We did a small bit of shopping and lots of exploring.

    I love Glasgow.

I love Glasgow. I used to live there and I really enjoy going back for a visit. There is loads to do, from gigs and exhibitions to fantastic historic buildings. Museums are free to get in. Would always recommend the Kelvingrove Museum - it is an experience in itself and a special feature is the 1 O'Clock organ recital. The Necropolis is really striking - huge and impressive and very informative about local history. Going out in Glasgow is brilliant - just about every cuisine in the world is catered for. My favourite area is around Finnieston and Kelvingrove. The park is fab - great for strolling and sitting. Botanic Gardens also. Curry is always a favourite - Ashoka in Finnieston was our choice this time but would also recommend Mother India and there are a lot of great Italian restaurants to choose from too. Very easy to get around the city - the Clockwork Orange (tube) is frequent and fun and goes to all the main parts of the city. It's a good city to walk in too. Can't think of anything I would avoid.

Lovely, booked couple of nights stay over as holiday was in north Scotland, didn't expect the standard we got. Friendly, helpful staff to the clean room ensuite, great facilities in and out of the hotel, well impressed and the breakfast, wonderful, no rushing lot's of fresh alternatives. We opted for a quiet room, best nights sleep and the price was a bit more than average but worth it, the swimming pool sauna and wet room finished off our short stay over Definitely coming again

It was the most affordable hotel in Glasgow for at least a decent place to sleep. Cleaning staff were good with providing fresh towels, changing garbage, providing toilet paper, changing bedding etc. The guy at the front desk on the first day I arrived did his best to get me checked in early which I appreciated, but did not help me with my luggage when I was clearly struggling with it. Once I got upstairs one of the cleaning staff saw how badly I was struggling and helped me.

This hotel is the perfect location for staying in the Merchant City of Glasgow. Buchanan St. and George Square are an easy walk to. The hotel's dining room has windows looking out over buildings with beautiful architecture. Our rooms were clean, quiet and comfortable. Both rooms had showers that were easy to access. Breakfast was served as an ample buffet and was delicious. There is a good variety of restaurants in the area. We enjoyed everything.
