Beautiful quirky scenic village with sheep roaming free.
Beautiful quirky scenic village with sheep roaming free. It is worth visiting for the steam trains, the Heartbeat connection and some lovely walks. If you stay it is a great base to explore the Whitby coastline.

Beautiful village very relaxing.
Beautiful village very relaxing. Lots of little cafes and shops. We ate at the Inn on the Moor, the food was excellent with plenty of choice. The North Yorkshire Moor Railway runs through the station at Goathland. The station is lovely and takes you back in time to the days of steam railways. There are many walks around the moors from the village [long and short].

A wonderful part of the countryside, if you are looking for peace and quiet it's perfect quite a tourist attraction but doesn't spoil the atmosphere. So many places nearby to keep you occupied if you like, steam trains, wonderful scenery, lovely walks or a short drive to Whitby for fish and chips.

Goathland is a unique place, a virtual timewarp so reminiscent for me of growing up in the 1960s. The surrounding countryside is breathtaking and with places like Whitby and Robin Hood's Bay just a short drive away, it's an ideal location to be based. My wife and I have stayed at The Goathland Hotel twice now and there is still more to see in this wonderful part of Yorkshire so we hope to return to do just that.

Just the most beautiful countryside, amazing moorlands full of beautiful scenery and wildlife. It is a quick drive to bigger centres such as Pickering, Whitby and other local towns crammed with character. There are so many places to walk, waterfalls, little lanes and big hills. Fantastic location. The steam train is fabulous; definitely worth the trip to the end of the line to see the scenery. Get kippers in Whitby…
A return visit.
Hotel is being extensively refurbished, and what a good job they are doing.
Our room was smart modern and well appointed. We had a fridge, a safe, a hairdryer and more illuminations than Blackpool. Couldn't fault it.
Food was excellent always fresh and tasty. Good sized helpings - you won't go hungry here.
Staf were superb; all of them. Guy running the bar must be made of kryptonite. How he runs that on his own is a mystery. (If he had a bit of help the wait would be down to reasonable lengths!)
Everything. Right from the warm welcome when we arrived to the long goodbye as we left, Gill and Dave are lovely hosts who made us feel like part of the family!
Breakfast cooked to order and done perfectly.
Beautiful room which was incredibly clean.
WiFi was a nice touch, we didn't use it very much but it worked well when we did.
We were given tips on the village and local attractions, including the pub down the road!
We loved it, this hotel was exceptional, from walking through the door when we arrived to leaving the following morning. The room was cosy, bed very comfortable and the food in the hotel was fabulous. Every staff member was clearly well-trained and really bothered about doing their best for the guests.
It is in a stunning location and the attention to detail is amazing too.
All of it. The Guest House Gooseberry room was spacious, and the bed was very comfortable 🏠
Angie and Rick were lovely hosts, and the breakfast was good. There were 2 hotels with excellent restaurants nearby for evening meals within walking distance. It was an excellent location to get to the coast.
location was second to none. love goathland , very spacious rooms, stunning views, hosts were really attentive, nothing was too much trouble. we left things in the room on check out, so dave and Sarah were straight on it too reunite the items with us. Breakfast was a work of art ,really tasty ,.

Excellent Service and meals.
The Manager Anna and waitress Calley hope I spelt their names right made our stay memorable.

The location, perfect. The room was lovely and also clean. Staff were acclimating and friendly. Food was averagely priced.
COVID aware, required to wear a mask upon entering the hotel. We did not expect that, however, no issues with that.
