Awesome property, Jo the host was as lovely as can be and an example of a decent honest human. The room was spotless, extra and above toiletries and was exactly and above what the pictures showed. One not to be missed and you best start booking fast! Thanks again Jo, your a shining example of what a bnb owner should be

Holmrook is a quiet village with few amenities, but it is a well placed base for travelling a little further afield. The nearby beaches at Drigg and Seascale are rather good and Ravenglass is worth a visit as is Muncaster Castle. The nearby narrow gauge railway can take you into Dalegarth near Boot in the Lakes within view of the Hardknott pass and a short walk from Stanley Ghyll Waterfall. A little further to the north Wast Water and Scafell Pike are not so far away.

Beautiful Location to Stay if your visiting the Scafell Region and Cliose to a Beach too. A visit to Stanley Ghyll is also recommended. There is Bower Inn Public House which is a nice walk away - to give the car a day off. Lovely Meal to be had there.

    Beautify countryside.

Beautify countryside. Interesting places to visit eg Muncaster Castle, Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway, Hardcastle Roman Fort, Eskdale Watermill. Less good is the number of narrow, twisting and steep roads, but that is to be expected in an area such as this.

Holmrook on the western side of the Lake District is a good starting point for exploring the lakes and mountains. Not much going on in Holmrook. I would recommend Bridge Inn about 3 miles out of of Holmrook but suggest you book a table as it soon fills up.

No complaints or criticism. Dale View House exceeded expectations, Was clean, bed comfortable, breakfast terrific. Property was easy to find, with on site parking. Room was quiet with nice rural view. Host was knowledgeable, helpful and professional. I highly recommend Dale View BnB. Holmbrook is a great place to be based as a tourist of the Lakes District and North Cumbria. I stayed for 6 nights.

We loved the wet room and the provision of white fluffy towels was an unexpected bonus. The extra wide bed made for a restful night's sleep for both of us! The conversion of an old farm building was beautifully done and the skylight made the open plan living/kitchen /dining space feel lighter and more spacious. We used the information supplied by the hosts to book a meal out at the local hotel and a trip on the steam train from Ravenglass - both a great success!

Lovely hotel within beautiful setting. Excellent value for money. Foods delicious 😋 exceptional Cumbrian breakfast and plenty of options, evening meal also delightful. Staff were very polite, friendly and helpful. Room was basic but very clean and functional, excellent value for money. If you like old buildings with character and the odd creeks you'll be absolutely fine. Doggies are also welcome 🐶 🐾 We'd certainly return with our pooch ☺️

Everything went well. MY wife and I travelled to one of our favorite Hotels to celebrate our Silver wedding anniversary. When the shower leaked in our room, Peter moved us to a larger room without any fuss at all. The refurbishment is excellent, the food is superb and the Hotels loves dogs, so Loki was very happy! The Bridge is a very cosy, comfortable Hotel and Sam behind the bar was very professional.

The staff were so lovely and friendly. The beds were very comfortable with very fluffy duvets which is just what you need after a long day hiking. It was a brilliant location; a short drive from Wast Water, the castle and Ravenglass railway which are all amazing family adventures. My three year kept asking to go back on our return journey home. It was a lovely atmosphere in the hotel!

Clean and comfortable, with very welcoming staff throughout. More like a hotel than a pub with rooms, but there was a good fire in the bar/restaurant area and better range of ales than most hotels. Food was fine, and generous portions for those who have been out on the hills.

Superb breakfast, with the absolute best Cumberland sausage made with Cumbrian pork, from the nearby 5- generation butcher, eggs freshly laid by Jo's hens, and delicious British tomatoes.
