Poole is a vibrant busy Marina town. The High Street has an interesting variety of shops (including the flagship Lush store). The streets are lean, and felt safe. Parking is well signposted but not cheap.
If you have time then make an advance booking for the Harbour, Sandbanks, and Islands Cruise. We’ve done it twice and the commentary is excellent. Entertaining and informative.
We strongly recommend the fish and chip shop by the Lifeboat Station. Huge legions of really fresh succulent fish, lovely crisp batter, and a generous portion of chips.
There is blue-badge disabled parking directly opposite the Poole Quay Hotel and near the High Street. The town is flat and easy to get around for anyone with limited mobility.
We loved Poole and are already planning our next trip in a month. We have no intention of paying £30/night extra to bring our two pampered house cats. For £90 extra for three nights we need to see we are getting something extra - not a standard cold room.

The Town itself has died with many shops either closed or have become Charity Shops. Far too many Flats being built and being overrun by 'Outsiders' (Not Tourists). We will not return but stay to the West of Poole in the Purbecks and beyond far more tranquil.

Poole itself is not particularly of interest and is quite small with an old town area and harbour, but is quite a good base to visit other places in the area either by boat trips, by train or by car. It is easily accessible by train from London Waterloo and once there it is also close to other coastal resorts such as Bournemouth and Weymouth.

Ideal for visiting Brownsea Island but it closes November to March. Check opening times! Easy access to Sandbanks with lovely long walk to Bournemouth. RNLI College Hotel is an experience in itself and cruise trip boats are within a short walk from it. Poole town is very ‘tired’ but a good base to travel around area.

I nice area, with plenty to do. If you plan to go out in the week check which restaurants are open and / or which pubs serve food.
As Poole is on the South Coast, please consider the Weather at the time of year you visit.

This was the 2nd time my wife and I have stayed in Poole and we like it very much. The harbour is interesting and there is always something happening. There are plenty of boat trips around the harbour or down to Wareham or Swanage. The weather was too bad for us but it would be great on a good day. Poole Quay or close to it is an ideal place to stay with plenty of good restaurants and pubs. The historic old town is worth exploring and there are several museums and an interesting old church nearby. Although we didn't use them there were plenty of buses linking all the major
attractions in the town.

There was a warm welcome at the Rose and Crown. Large room, feels more like a boutique hotel. Large bed with great linen. Excellent powerful shower. Complimentary fresh milk and water were nice.
Good quality pub food in the restaurant. Was busy for a Tuesday evening when we stayed and there was a good atmosphere. Heather and Marcus kindly let us have breakfast slightly earlier as we had a ferry to catch. Would definitely return. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
The location, easy parking inside hotel grounds; bus stops to Poole and Bournemouth right outside hotel; very comfortable beds; dining room was bright and airy although due to covid restrictions no buffet allowed, and no fresh fruit available at breakfast. The cooked breakfast was served to order and very nice too. The beach was only 3/4 minutes walk but a steep hill to climb on way back.
Unfortunately, can only review the room because we had to cut short our stay due to illness and were unable to use any hotel facilities or restaurant, etc. otherwise. We were impressed with our sea view room (#214). It was clean, lovely modern furnishings and decoration, excellent in-room facilities and the balcony view was incredible. Good parking available when staying.
Second time I have stayed in this accomodation. Lovely house nice and clean, everything you need. Ideal location for 5 minutes walk to Poole quayside.
Staff very friendly when picking keys up, offering advice. Curteousy phone call from Ella to make sure everything was in order.
Much better than hotel, as you are literally home from home. Will definately return.
Loads for breakfast in a serve yourself format. All very fresh and tasty. Breakfast area was very well presented.
Bathroom was huge with a very large shower, shower gel, shampoo and conditioner. Large bed that was comfortable and the rooms all had hotel style, heavy doors with electronic fobs for opening.
The staff were very friendly, in particular Thea who served us breakfast. The lady at the reception desk was also helpful when listening to our concerns about our room. The location was great for going to the beach and visiting Poole, Bournemouth and Sandbanks. Food at the hotel was delicious.
The location is fantastic, right on the quayside and near restaurants and pleasure cruises. The hotel was clean and the staff were friendly and helpful.
We were looking forward to our stay and we weren't disappointed and are planning on staying again soon.
the rooms are always clean and tidy. Enjoyed the area, poole is a wonderful little seaside town. its a 30minute trip to durdle door, and that's the trip we went for. great if you don't want to spend a ridiculous amount on hotels near there.
Great location for accessing Poole Quay with its bars and restaurants and the surrounding areas using public transport. Nice that the hotel reserved me a room in front of the TV so that I could watch the football!
Location location location..its everything with this hotel! Right on the beach.... cross the road from the car park and enjoy uninterrupted sunsets sat by Poole Harbour. Great breakfast and super helpful staff.
Excellent. You give money to the fabulous RNLI and in return, you get a very comfy room with sea views, parking, great food onsite, and only five mins from Poole Harbour. Excellent staff. Perfect
The only think I like was the location and view. That is the main thing you pay for. As it goes for the hotel it looked nothing like I expected. With it being so expensive I expected more class.
Our ferry was delayed and so we arrived after the advertised check in time, one phone call to the hotel and one of the staff stayed on beyond the end of his shift to await our arrival. Thank you
The hotel was in a great location. It’s a good base if you want to go and explore Poole. Close to pubs, bars, restaurants and shops. There is a Tesco just three doors down which is helpful.
Room was comfortable and clean. Good location near to Poole town, with beaches and parks nearby. Great stay for a few nights with the kids. Food/service at the hotel was very good.
Because of the Pandemic, breakfast was brought up to our room. A lovely breakfast sub roll. The room had everything we needed for our 2 night stay in Poole town centre.
