Dog friendly is an understatement, they were so accommodating to us and our rather filthy dog having walked Offa's Dyke that day. Lovely big room and enjoyed the bath!

To me, Symonds Yat and the entire Forest of Dean is still such an under-rated and under-valued area. It is such a beautiful place of natural beauty; if you love birds, trees, being out in nature - this place has it all. You can easily get off the beaten path and avoid the more well-known spots (the sculpture trail gets busy at weekends). It's easy to just lose yourself here and just 'be'. For those who love kayaking & canoeing, there's a ton of outdoor places to get into the water. For camper van owners, this place is a wee slice of heaven and, if you get into the heart of the forest, the relatively low light pollution makes from some spectacular star-gazing on clear nights. Enjoy!

A tranquil location in one of the most beautiful areas of the country. Good food is available at the Saracen's head but make sure you book. The narrow lanes leading to the village can be a bit tricky so take your time. It's probably worth arriving fairly early as it becomes very busy during peak periods.

Very scenic area centred on the River Wye with lots of walking routes, though some were muddy in places. We visited after a wet spell of autumn weather and the small ferry across the river was not running, meaning a long walk to the only river crossing in the area, but great views and good for serious walkers.

This was one of the cheaper hotels in the area so we were surprised at it being so nice, beautiful location , all staff were friendly and helpful, food was great, we will definitely go again. We loved the fact it was dog friendly.
Love the location, very relaxing to listen to the birds singing and the river Wye flowing by outside our bedroom window. Ideal location for a walk to Symonds Yat or through the forest along the river bank. Claire and John are wonderful hosts, very accommodating and knowledgeable on local geography, nothing is too much trouble. We can’t wait to return.
We loved everything about our stay here. The room was cute and clean (a bit small), the staff was lovely, food good as well. They are very dog friendly which we loved! The hotel is beautiful and historic and nestled in the prettiest little village. We will definitely be returning whenever we come to visit our welsh family.
Self Catering. Location, views, wonderful for walking, Symonds Yatt rock etc. Ten minute walk to local riverside pub. Fifteen minute drive into Monmouth. Free parking. The place itself was superb. Clean, well proportioned, very quiet, facilities include table and chairs on the lawned front area for relaxation.
The location of the stay is brilliant! We been to Symonds Yat multiple times and we are very impressed how close the property is to the river and the pub! It’s perfect for a long weekend holiday with friends and families. The deck out the front is amazing, we BBQ EVERYDAY!
Pat and the rest of the staff were lovely and very helpful! From the moment we message before the trip to saying goodbye! The food was excellent! The location of the hotel was beautiful! We are planning another trip back soon! Thanks guys! :)

Fantastic location, straight down to the river ferry and the pubs! Really based in among the area that people travel to see including Symonds Yat rock, Biblin bridge, the river, canoe/SUP hire etc.
Loved the area, beautiful setting. Had lunch and breakfast and food was lovely, plenty options for breakfast. Rooms clean, staff friendly and helpful. We had 2 dogs with us and they loved it too
We love the location of this hotel and have returned several times. The rooms could do with a little updating but the reason we go is for the location. Staff were all lovely and friendly.
A great location for a relaxed stay. Spacious and warm. Dog friendly but no enclosed garden - field on the riverbank nearby. A good shower to warm up after a long days walk.
Excellent location on the river. Tastefully modernised and very comfortable room with views along the river. Superb breakfast and evening meal in the restaurant.
Beautiful location, amazing food and great staff in a historic hotel.
We had a room with a balcony which was great as it was quite hot in the rooms at night.
Very good value for money. Clean and tidy. Had all the items required of a self catering. Good parking. Good access to towns and cities around the area.
