Hotel staff was incredibly welcoming, made us feel right at home from the start. Wonderful breakfast served late, with many options. Great location, just steps from a lovely sand covered beach. I cannot overstate the warmth of Dimitris and the rest of the staff. A+++

The apartment is exactly as seen in the photos. It is located in an extremely quiet area, close to a school and except for the hours when parents pick up their children, there is hardly anyone passing on the street in front of the property. Especially at night. In relation to privacy, I have to say that at the time we stayed there, it was just us in our wing almost all the time. The biggest advantage of the place though is its spotless cleanliness. During our almost two-week stay, Christy, who probably also owns the property, changed our sheets and towels and cleaned the bathroom every other day. So when we were coming back from a beach or a walk, we were pleasantly surprised by the treatment. Last but not least, I must mention that on the evening of our check-in, she was waiting for us outside the building to give us the keys and three bottles of water, wine and beer were left in the fridge as a compliment. Otherwise the apartment has everything we needed - working washing machine and laundry detergent, fridge, iron, air conditioning in every room, dining table, stove, kitchenette, balcony and parking. A plus is the relatively close and nice restaurant with local cuisine, and in a 15 min walk (or a few minutes drive) is the village where there are more restaurants, a hypermarket, a pharmacy and a beach. To fully enjoy the island itself, however, you must rent a car. Personally, as someone who researches ancient cultures, the location of the place was very convenient for me because it is located between the archaeological sites of Knossos, Malia and Phaestos, as well as the Archaeological Museum of Heraklion. Once again a big thank you to Christy for everything.

    A quiet area, but the beach close by is not the best (still ok if you wanna just refresh a bit) and you need the car if you want to see and explore more (even in the surroundings). There are buses, though, to move to/from major points of interest. The location I chose (Kri-Kri Village) was perfect and I had the best time! Extremely relaxing, chill vibe and you can reach great beaches not far. Suggested!

    Everything was absolutely amazing! Trust me, I am a very fussy traveller and fussy where I stay and this place exceeded my expectations. You will not be disappointed and again, the host (maybe her Mum, Eva?) was so kind and just a very, very nice lady. Unreal place :)

    We loved Astra Sea Front!

    We loved Astra Sea Front! We didn’t care that the kitchen was dated or had no dishwasher or microwave. The air conditioning was perfect. We used the patio a lot, and the view of the sea and its closeness was fabulous. The recommended restaurants by Yiannis were excellent. There are no bad tavernas in the area….. we would definitely come back and recommend the property to others with no complaints. It is easy to rent a car in town. I would include contact info in the listing.

    Amazing place, peacefull and calm, gorgeous sunrises and sunsets, warm sea, delicious food ( we enjoed sea food in Kontra Flokos tavern, great place!) and relaxing atmosphrere! Staing in Anthoula Sunrise apartments was great and very comfortable! Traveling to Heraclion to see Knossos palace and archeological museum was only 20 min by bus to the city and 20 min from city center to Knossos palace, must have to visit!

    a quiet, uncrowded small town with taverns by the sea; I went to "Kontra Flocos" 3 nights out of 7 because everything I ate was amazing;the fresh swordfish was amazing! At Ideal Greek Taverna-Pizzeria I ate a pizza prepared on the spot better than in Italy !

    The owner and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. The hotel itself is located nextdoor to a couple nice restaurants (Avra and Ambrosia) and a nice beach is just across the street. We also really enjoyed the pool and the breakfast offered in the hotel. On the day we had a flight home, we had to leave before breakfast and the owner made sure to prepare some snacks for us to take - it was a very pleasant surprise.

    The staff is really 5 star, they put their heart into this hotel and it shows. The beach is nice, you can rent two beds with a parasol for 5€ and get som really good food delivered from the hotel restaurant. There are a few good tavernas around the hotel, otherwise its quite remote from anything.
