We stayed here primarily to visit Plitvice national park but the area was beautiful, a complete contrast to the Croatian coastline. It felt very Austrian in influence with chalet style houses, lots of green countryside and flowers. It was also a lot cheaper to eat out and buy coffees/ice creams than on the coast. Plitvice was incredible (although v hot and busy in August). I would like to go back at a quieter time as there were long queues to get on the boats which was not ideal in the heat with children. It was a shame that there is nowhere you are allowed to swim as we would have enjoyed the opportunity to cool off!

A great location to get active.
A great location to get active. We did kayaking on the upper river Mreznica - Slunj, which was wonderful. We did this through the Hotel Mirjana&Rastoke, and they were excellent guides. We also visited the Plitvice Lakes for a day and did a great hike around the National Park.

Nice place, there's caves nearby and Plitvice national park to see. There's also a small, cute town Rastoke nearby. The people are very friendly.
There are a lot of small shops but not many souvenir shops are open during the winter time.
We really enjoyed walking through Rastoke with our dogs (there's even a dog beach there), the food in rastoke was amazing! We ate at "Kum".
National park Plitvice is a must-see, we recommend visiting during the week, since weekends are quite busy and if you're with dogs, it's a bit tiresome to move through guided groups/crowds.

We found numerous places of interest around.
We found numerous places of interest around. From Slunj and the fab restaurant (Petra) by the waterfalls, to the Plitivitc world heritage park, bat caves and scenery. Whilst we didnt travel with children there were plenty of things for families in the locality for all ages.
Locals all very friendly and helpful. All linked by a good road system and markings. The only disappointment was the zip slide that was closed when we visited.

We visited because of a trip to the NP Plitvička lakes but can imagine that one could spend longer time in Rakovics just enjoy some time off,go for walks as there is nice countryside arround, good restaurants..
The location was perfect. Felt like we were in the countryside (which we probably were). Breakfast was amazing, and we took what we didn't eat to Plitvice with us for the day. Had such a great conversation with Marijuana about her family, growing up in Croatia, her experiences during the War of Independence. Our trip before and after was pretty busy, so it was nice to have the time at House Zupan to regroup. Found good places to eat within walking distance and short drive.
We stayed at the 2-bedroom apartment for 2 nights. It's a new, modern, well equipped apartment and extremely clean. Location is perfect, very close to Plitvice - with ample parking space in front of the apartment. Very friendly and helpful host. Kresimir even texted me info on restaurants and places of interest in Zagreb as we continued our trip from Rakovica to Zagreb. Overall, our stay at Apt Nikola Tesla was very enjoyable. I would definitely recommend this place!
The owner’s mother met us and with the help of Google translate welcomed us to their lovely apartment. It was very well equipped, clean and comfortable. There us a table to sit outside and whilst not a beautiful view, it just felt relaxed and comfortable for our one night. It is close to the supermarket in Rakovica and on the way towards the Barac caves. A really beautiful area. They very kindly let us arrive early and even brought us a plate of delicious pancakes!!
We stayed in the spacious and immaculate top floor of a large recently built timber house. Comfy bed, great wifi, lots of outside space for parking and sitting. Large kitchen lounge area with cooking facilities and large wood burner with wood, though we didnt need this in October. 10 mins drive to good local eateries. Countryside setting. Try nearest Pizzeria 5 min drive or 16 lakes hotel for food.
The location was great for Plitvice National Park, the view from the porch was incredible if you like the country side views (I do!). I could have definitely stayed longer. I've been to croatia a couple of times and this is by far my favorite place to stay. The owners were really nice too! I brought my dog and he loved it, there were cats, dogs, horses, and goats so it's definitely pet friendly.
It was so quiet and peaceful! The apt was spacious and clean. After a very long day of traveling, it was the perfect place to settle in to. We were given recommendations to a nearby restaurant that was also amazing. And the horses on the ranch that appeared at sunset were almost like a dream. It was the perfect place to start our Croatian vacation.
The hotel has clearly been fully refurbished and is so much nicer than the photos suggest. Everything looks brand new. Friendly welcome. Breakfast was good value. The room and hotel were exceptionally clean and comfortable and furnished to a high standard. There is some free parking on site too and it is not too far from Plitvic Lakes.
It has the quality of a 5 stars hotel - really comfortable luxury bed. The owner is an interior designer:a beautiful green velvet couch and all decorations make staying in this apartment very enjoyable
I would recommend to take the home made dinner - very good price and high quality in a cosy atmosphere
First, the property matched the photos and if anything was actually better than the photos. Our host was very helpful with suggestions on dining and where to go locally. Room was large as was the bathroom as well. Easy access to the hotel from the car as well. A great value for us.
Beautiful apartment in Rakovica, few minutes ride from Plitvice.
Hosts are really friendly, everything is brand new, modern and has everything you need for short or longer stay. Smart TV with Netflix is big plus for rainy everning.
We loved it and will be coming back. Thank you!
lovely place in the middle of rural croatia but a short drive to plitvice - what we expected. bedrooms big and comfortable. festive with christmas tree on the patio. lavendar themed! host very nice. bet it's beautiful with lavender in full bloom in season.
Perfect location from the National Park. Space was awesome with everything we needed ! The hosts greeted us with homemade Croatian treats and were so kind and hospitable! Beautiful home! highly recommend this place when visiting Plitvice Lakes!!
Great location - just 15 min drive from Entrance 1 of Plitvice NP. Also good restaurants in the vicinity of the hotel.
Ample parking space
Decently sized room and bathroom. Did not feel cramped. Was also well equipped.
We stayed in the apartment on the ground flor. Everything was perfect. A lot of space inside, Lovely terrece outside. Silence, far from the road (around 200 m), 1,5 km to the center of Rakovica. Friendly owners!
Nice and quiet location. Very clean.
Fantastic host.
Breakfast is a must.
If you plan to stay in Rakovica (for Plitvice Park or not), no matter if it is for one night or two weeks, choose House Zupan.
The hotel is located near a supermarket and over a bar, but the bar does only sell drinks, so no croissant for the breakfast!
A must to prepare a trip to Plitvicka.
Rakovica is a great place for vacation! The apartment looks like the same as in the pictures, the owner is living downstairs.everybody was very friendly😊
