Vogar Travel Service, hotel in Myvatn

Located by Lake Mývatn, this guest house offers basic rooms with shared facilities. The Mývatn Nature Baths is a 10-minute drive away.

This was the best choice of our trip in Iceland to stay at Vogar Travel Service since Northern light came beautifully at around midnight. A kind couple from England who shared the accommodation with us knocked on our door telling us to see the Northern light, very impressed to see how it moved in the sky. It was the first time of my life.

It's a beautiful lava field and lake system.

It's a beautiful lava field and lake system. Old volcanos and lava flows. Dimmuborgir is a legendary place where the Yule Lads sleep through the summer. Bear in mind that the summer can have hatches of midges. Krafla Power Station, active geothermal mud pools, Mývatn Nature Baths. If you travel in the winter it's a great place to see the Aurora as practically no light pollution. Obviously it's not as nice as Akureyri, but I would say that as I live there

This hotel was located in a great area for us to explore this part of Iceland. The hotel is a great option and I could not fault anything. Rooms are beautifully stylish and the whole hotel has been designed very well with stunning decor. The staff are friendly and helpful.

Myvatn Lake certainly has beautiful scenery and the weather is typically warmer than the coast. For the full service/hotel travelers I would recommend Fosshotel. For campers there is plenty of accommodations.

So much to see and do in this area!

So much to see and do in this area! Thankfully we were up and out just after nine! We packed in so much! Lots to see down the eastern side of the lake. Each activity offered us something different and unusual that we hadn’t experienced before. The thermal baths there, although smaller than the Blue Lagoon, are much cheaper and actually offer senior rates. Two pools, one warmer than the other and one sort of large hot tub area. Well worth the money! The cakes in the restaurant there and the coffee were some of the best we’ve had and are reasonably priced. They also have larger meals and soups on offer.

Myvatn is a beautiful lake, and the surroundings have plenty to offer to visit and for hiking. It has a great variety of scenic points and shorter and longer walks. At Skutustadir is a nice information centre that also a small exhibition explaining the origin of the circle of craters over there.

Although it was a long drive from the west of Iceland, it was well worth it. There are so many hidden gems: 2 grottos, a fissure off the beaten path, a nature bath that rivals blue lagoon, and so much more. It's also not crowded due to the location. Well worth the drive!

Comfortable, well equipped lodge with 4 guest rooms and communal kitchen, dining, living area. Host helpful and provides good range of food to make your own breakfast. Very nice, well equipped kitchen, including washer / dryer which was very useful, and well used by guests whilst we were there. Good location not far from main road and very close to Lake Myvatn and its attractions. Supermarket not far away in Reykjahlio where there is also very good fish and chip take away.

Good modern hotel close to Myvatn. With some quirky decorative features to differentiate from blander, samey modern hotels. Queen room bit smaller than expected but not a major issue. Some good sustainable ideas like a voucher valid for money off food drink bill in hotel if staying more than one day and choose not to have room cleaned, towels changed etc. Had hot tubs too but didn't get chance to use.

The campground hosts were very helpful in providing information. The huts are close to a supermarket/gas station and Myvatn lake seems like a vacation spot for the locals. I really liked having a porch to sit on at the end of the day. We used the kitchen of the hostel down the road. The campground bathrooms and showers were kept clean and were walking distance from the huts.

Dimmuborgir Guesthouse is perfectly located close to numerous local attractions and restaurants. There are beautiful lake views from cottages and dining room. I had best experience with staff that I can remember. They are very friendly, helpful and energetic. I also recommend breakfast that includes volcanic bread, skyr, and homemade dry trout and lamb.

Fosshotels are a chain of upscale hotels in Iceland. We had a room with an incredible view and huge windows and two comfortable chairs in which to take it all in. Comfortable bed, good shower, clean, and reasonable space. We enjoyed an excellent dinner in the hotel's restaurant. Check-in/out was quick and efficient. There is a nice bar/lounge area as well.

We really enjoyed our stay in the hut as it was warm and comfortable. The location not far from lake Myvatn is great and the staff very friendly and helpful. Check-in at the campsite was very easy (with this wind, we were very happy not having to stay in a tent...) Best of all of course was the breakfast - it was excellent and even had lava bread!

We did a tour around Iceland and we stayed one night at Aska Modern Cabin. The cabin is situated in a perfect location near Myvatn lake. The reception is nearby and the crew is helpful and friendly. The cabin has all the facilities you need, even a small kitchen if you want do do your own cooking. And we could park the car really nearby.

probably one of my favorite properties to stay out! Definitely make a reservation and eat dinner here. It was one of our best meals in Iceland. Complete farm to table type of food and service. rooms are older, but very comfortable and spacious. Loved petting the cows and being on the farm. Beautiful views of the lake.

Location is nice, around what's important in Myvatn. Room is comfy People are very respectful, since the building is a bungalow it could have been a way worse experience if people were not. Overall we had a nice stay but compared to all other hotels we had we think it's a bit too expensive for the service offered.
