Anzio is a non-touristic, quiet port town.
Anzio is a non-touristic, quiet port town. Decent beaches, both free and paid. A good starting point for hydrofoil travel to Ponza Island. From here there are hydrofoils that will take you there in an hour and a half. Other places only use regular cruise ships, but they offer a four-hour journey. There are many good restaurants with local fresh fish and seafood as well as local wines. A place worth staying for shorter and longer periods.

Pleasant surprise! We learnt that the beaches around Anzio are popular among people from the Rome region, so there are mostly local people. Long, very nice beach with clean water, shallow sea and fine sand.AlesCzech Republic - 10Scored 10

if you want to stay near Rome and have the benefit of a cooler summer atmosphere and a beach holiday this it , far better than staying Ostia or Fiumicino. frequent trains air conditioned and an hours journey rome for targeted visiting.

The beach by the way is very good, blue flag) The owner is a very friendly woman, she upgraded our room as soon as we were travelling with a baby. The room was cosy, clean and had a spacious balcony with a sea view. The bathroom was not clean, it was brand new clean! And every day it was very well cleaned! There was very good internet.

Also I was very glad as she offered me a bicycle to ride around as Anzio center is quite far (5km) and local buses go without schedule and not so often. The beach is very long and clean!
