Hotel was clean, view was outstanding and if you like to be up in the hills then it's definitely the place to be. Think Saturdays nights might be the landlady's weekly bunga bunga night going by the peculiar noises but its not a problem with us

the bed was surprisingly comfortable and it was an easy walk down to the town centre and lake. The parking was fairly close and although open to the public felt safe

Brienno is a small town with only 330 residents, so very quite and especially out of season, practically nobody around. If you are reasonably fit, you will get the real Italian experience of rustic and imperfect buildings and steep streets hewn into the rocks. The air is very clean and crisp, the lake is constantly changing its moods. You get a late sunrise over the montains opposite of the lake and shade in the evenings, the evening sun reflecting on the town opposite the lake.
You get a lot of activity and sound from fast boats, including hydrofoils where the whole ship is out of the water - amazing sight. Frequent Water Aircrafts flying low over the lake, landing in front of you at times, add to the sound background.
As they built a tunnel for the main traffic the nights are very quite, especially after around 10PM the nearby church stop ringing the half hourly bells. You do get the odd public bus and car going through the town beneath you. In season you will get a lot more acivity and the Pizzerias and Restaurants will be open in town. All in all a very worthwile experience, we will be back!

Loved the house, lake and environment.
Loved the house, lake and environment. The driveway is tight for large cars but we managed. Brienno is just past Laglio where George Clooney lives so it’s definitely upscale, and 30 minute drive to Como.

Beautiful!
Beautiful! There is one restaurant at walking distance from the appartment where we had a very nice pizza and a decent breakfast (not a lot of options but what was available was very good).
We were unlucky as the ferry that conects Brienno to Como was not working because they were rebuilding the peer, otherwise it would have been a perfect location. Brienno is a quiet and typical town.

It‘s a quiet village, feels almost remote. Not much to do here in the evenings. But this is part of its charm. It‘s just an Italian village. There is a restaurant/ bistro with a view onto the lake. Nice for evening drinks. No „alimentari“ in the village. But a van near the church provides fresh bread and cheese.

Quiet historic village with beautiful scenery a delightful pizza restaurant and a lakeside cafe where one can swim from a deck area. The church is beautiful and rings a pretty tune in the evening. There is a small local shop but Bennet is the big supermarket to look for on the way to Brienno from Como. A very romantic place to be based in order to investigate other places by the Lake ferries.
