After the 2 hr. drive from Leonardo da Vinci Airport, we arrived on a drizzly evening at this B&B with the cool stone buildings we had seen in the photos on Booking.com. Separate casitas with split levels.
Our host planned for us to stay in an upper level casita. Once he saw my friend’s large, heavy bag, he differed to a ground floor unit. It was spacious, perfect for a family-2 large beds-plus bunk beds & kitchenette. Rustically furnished-solid furniture but no frills. Bathroom-dimly lit, kitchen/bedroom-had no curtain on window facing the highway- we rigged up one for our stay. An excellent bonus though, were screens on all the windows! We found good parking in the back. There is a manager’s office and breakfast room building as you approach the theatrical courtyard. Our host asked if we would like dinner at his restaurant that evening. We agreed and looked for him around 7:50PM. He was not around. We tried to speak to someone on the grounds talking on his phone, but he waved us off rudely. With no further information to find the restaurant, tired and hungry, we got in the car again and found a good place up the road. Our host the following morning was put out that we did not eat at his restaurant, initially described as 50 meters from the B&B. He also finally remembered to introduce himself. He seemed preoccupied with projects during this slow period of the year-we noticed only one or two other guests at breakfast. After that, we wished our host well and headed up to the fantastic Castello Piccolomini di Celano, in town. Parked next to the castle, toured the inside collection enjoyed the exterior panoramic views and had a great lunch at the restaurant near the castle, La Locanda del Castello Braceria Ristorante.
Il Mughetto in Celano provides accommodations with a terrace and a shared lounge. There's a private entrance at the bed and breakfast for the convenience of those who stay.
18 miles from Campo Felice (Rocca di Cambio), the apartment offers a garden and barbecue facilities. Free Wifi is available throughout the property and Fucino Plateau is 5.4 miles away.

We found the accomodation to be excellent (a couple). - comfortable & well appointed. The video the owner sent was really useful in finding the place. There is free onroad parking, although the narrow lane presents a bit of a challenge. Having said this we managed to find a convenient spot. The views from the upper & lower terraces were breathtaking. The photos do not do it justice. The accommodation is on two levels, with the main bedroom upstairs. This may or may not suit families depending on the age of the children. There is a short walk (20m) up to the front door which could pose issues if one has mobility issues, but generally it is fine. Celano is a delightful, historic town. There is not a huge amount to visit but we enjoyed strolling aroung the alleys & castle precints. The Castle is well worth a visit. We would have liked to have explored the outlying countryside but we visted during a heatwave so it was impossible to venture very far. We had a fabulous meal at the Locanda Madonna delle Vigne - local food & wine at a reasonable price. We would definitely return to this accommodation.

It has a picturesque midieval section which was fun to explore. The museums located in the much restored Piccolomini Palace were interesting as were several of the local churches, all within an easy walk.

Celano is a small town dominated by a castle on the top of the hill. It is not touristy so consequently it seemed cheaper than some other parts of Italy. The town is backed by some high mountains and there are a couple of small ski resorts nearby. The town can be easily explored in a day but it is a good base for exploring the surrounding area.
We had a fabulous set meal at Locanda Madonna delle Vigne which was a short walk from the castle and from where we were staying.
Gianluigi and Lina could not have been more helpful. They fielded all our question patiently and made every effort to accede to our requests, made excellent recommendation about local eateries and local sites. It has been blisteringly hot in Eastern Italy and Celano was no exeption. Fortunately the AC worked perfectly and my husband and I enjoyed the best nights of sleep that we've had in 2 weeks. It has become our experience, that in B&Bs beds are not made on a daily basis. Not here. Houskeeping on top of it.
Lovely clean appartment. Very comfortable bed and bathroom. Location is perfect on a quiet side street in the partly pedestrian historical centre. There is a good map necessary to use when walking around to find short cuts, flights of steps etc. Celano is a great base for many hikes, including the spectacular Celano gorge. A hidden wonder of central Italy. There is a good bus service through the national park to help getting to and from the hikes
A very friendly and comfortable hotel on a good location for exploring Celano and the national parks. Friendly staff, although some of them didn't know much English. Every night they serve dinner, which offered a variety of local dishes to an afforable price. The room was nice, with very good airconditioning and beautiful view over the surroundings. Wifi worked well. Overall a very nice hotel.
Superb hospitality. Marco (the owner) and his team went above and beyond any standard.
The apartment is cozy, comfortable, well-equipped and clean.
All the details are taken care of.
Marco offered his constant support and assistance throughout my stay in Celano.
His tips and recommendations have been awesome. His generosity is one of a kind!!
This property is stunning! We have stayed here in 2003. Many additional amenities have been added since that time. It is truly a gorgeous hotel! We urge all of our Family and friends, traveling to this part of Italy, to stay here! The restaurant is wonderful, also!
The owner is very nice and friendly. Everything was very clean and there is a great view out the window of the room! I was here during summer and even though it was over 30 degrees Celsius outside, the room was still cool. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay in Celano.
The B&B is an old house cozy and elegantly furnished located few steps far from Celano’s main square. Impressive details in all the aspects (room, kitchen, bathroom, etc.) The hosts are warm-hearted, polite and know how to take care of their guests.
Everything about the hotel was exceptional. It was clean, stylish, roomy with excellent service in where we had dinner. Food was good and great value for money and service was attentive and efficient. Room itself was well equipped and comfortable.
Very kind host, helpful. Rooms were clean and pleasant right in the centre of beautiful Celano and in 100m from the castle. Magnicificent views from everywhere. 20 min. driving to the ski slopes of Ovidoli.
The property has been restructured to a very high standard and is very well appointed. Spacious and clean with great views and right in the centre of Celano.
