FAQs about hotels in Venice-Lido

Chic Venetian Beach Resort

Spanning 11 kilometres between the Adriatic Sea and one of the most famous lagoons in the world, Lido is a narrow and long island located just in front of Venice’s Old Town. Beach resorts, hotels and private villas replaced the vegetable gardens 160 years ago that provided tranquil settings for poets and writers like Lord Byron and Thomas Mann.

Probably one of the first beach resorts in the world, its first facility opened in 1857 and soon became a success. Nowadays, it constitutes a peaceful suburb that claims its golden past once a year during the Film Festival, and offers a quieter setting for your accommodation than central Venice.

There are actually three different villages on the island. Lido itself is located in the north, and includes most of the hotels and the Venice Casino. The smaller Malamocco and Alberoni are situated to the centre and south respectively. The sea-facing side of Lido Island is a succession of sandy beaches, mostly belonging to different resorts and hotels.

Gran Viale Santa Maria Elisabetta is the island’s main street, leading from the ‘vaporetto’ water bus pier to the sea. There are buses running on the island, while direct waterbus links to Venice Marco Polo Airport are also available.

Lido was recommended to me by a friend who goes every year.

Lido was recommended to me by a friend who goes every year. She'd stayed in lots of areas. Great choice ! The island was quieter, cleaner, cheaper and not so busy. It was lovely to walk around, trees, flora and fauna, churches , lots of shops and restaurants. Short stroll to a beautiful beach. Amazing sunsets, with all those views. Picture perfect. We used a three day vaporetta pass to get around. We were two stops away from main part of Venice, where we got off to explore. Four stops to San Marco, quick and easy. Longer trips to Murano, which was worth a visit...free to get into the glass factory on a Wednesday and the airport was a 45 minute ride, but easily done.

The staff were very welcoming and helpful. The space was quaint and perfectly located away from the crazy busy hub that is Venice. It was a 5 minute walk to the laundromat, where you could have a drink nearby at a bar while you waited. Another 5 minute walk and you were at the beach. Lots of eateries, shops, bars and way less people.

Very close to the buzzing city of Venice (only minutes by Vaporetto) but away from all the noise and crowded streets. Perfect place to relax in the evening. Very nice restaurants, B&Bs and even a beach where you can sunbath and swim. We used to stay in Venice but now we always stay here.

Feels like a typical Italian village, but it's only a ten minute boat ride to piazza San Marco. It's quiet, but elegant. The bars and restaurants I tried - on the main boulevard and along the canal - were excellent.

I have stayed on the fabulous island of lido several times as I love it there and it only takes 20 minutes to get to Venice by vaporetto boat, the island has many very good hotels, apartments, restaurants, bars, shops and a great long beach where there is the wonderful blue moon beach bar, there is a wonderful relaxing vibe to the island, where the vaporetto boat arrives you can get buses or taxis around the island and you can get a boat from Marco polo airport which takes about 50 minutes.

I didn't go to the beach, I went to a ceremony in the Palazzo del cinema. Lido is a quiet place with beautiful houses and a beach. You can see the sunset from the water front and Venice which was very pretty. I heard that it's quite dead in winter time, but end of September was perfect, quiet but still lively.

Hotel's very nice - basic but clean, rooms are very well decorated, staff is very polite and friendly, breakfast is nice - coffee was strong and there were very delicious fresh baked pies and cakes every day. The lady who makes coffee in the morning remembered what everyone drinks. They have a rooftop balcony with a great view that is accessible to everyone which is great as some rooms don't have balconies of their own. The hotel is located in a quiet street - 10 min from the beach and 5 min from the SME vaporetto station.

The building was easily located, close to pubic transport. The staff/hotel/reception were welcoming & informative (even before we arrived - providing comprehensive details of how to reach the hotel). The hotel itself was spacious, clean, bright and airy (both the communal spaces & room/en suite - Just what is needed in hot locations) - Everything was easy and accessible - even the breakfast was no FAFF - & fairly priced.

If you want to visit Venice then Lido is best to stay. Lido is a small Island just minutes away from Venice. It is peaceful and beautiful. Viktoria Palace hotel is on the best site of Lido. On the map it seems a little far from center and that is what we were thinking but in fact it is on best location. You can move around on foot, on bus or on bicycles. Beach is just some steps away.

The location was good; walkable distance to the beach and also to the main strip on Lido. I liked having a small kitchen to cook in and store food (and leftovers from restaurants). The other hotels we stayed in (in Europe) didn't even have a mini fridge! It felt safe: there was a gated entrance with a code we had to enter.
