Host are really nice cute garden close to the beach
Olbia is all about the sea, and what a glorious turquoise sea it is. As the gateway to Sardinia’s stunning Emerald Coast, this down-to-earth town is often overlooked in favour of the more glamorous resorts. However, it does have attractions of its own.
The simple Basilica of San Simplicio dates to the 11th century and the Church of St Paul the Apostle is also medieval. The National Archaeology Museum houses Roman ships, as well as prehistoric artefacts from the surrounding area.
Sardinia has a wealth of prehistoric structures and one of these – the Tomba dei Giganti Su Monte‘e S’Abe – is near Olbia Costa Smeralda Airport and medieval Pedres Castle. Across the bay is Sa Testa Sacred Well, dating to at least 1200 BC.
Along the coast in Pittulongu are the real attractions – fantastic, unspoilt beaches from where you can see rocky Tavolara Island, a popular diving site. In summer, boats sail there from Isola Bianca Harbour, the arrival point of ferries from the Italian mainland. The harbour’s fishing boats are responsible for the fantastic mussels in Olbia’s seafood restaurants, some of which are amid bars and shops on Corso Umberto – the locals’ favourite passeggiata spot.
The Olbia accommodation on Booking.com includes luxury spa hotels, apartments near the beach and cheap B&Bs.

Olbia is a practical town to stay in because you can travel by bus or car to Sardinia’s top attractions. There is a lot of action on the Corso Umberto and surroundings but overall I found only a few good places to eat. The airport is close and easy to reach via public transportation. All in all I would recommend it as a place where you spend the night but you plan your day to day visiting the amazing beaches and hikes.

If you are travelling around northern Sardinia then I would recommend a visit to Alghero rather than Olbia.
There are very few places of interest in Olbia and the traffic network is very hard to negotiate with confusing signage in many parts.

A trip to Olbia felt like visiting the 'real' Italy.
A trip to Olbia felt like visiting the 'real' Italy. Tourists per se are not specially catered for, although there are tours of La Maddalena from Palau, dolphin spotting etc.
But what you do get is a warm welcome from local people.
Lively bars, but not thumping clubs.
- and the food is amazing, with a particular focus on local delicacies as well as fresh fish and seafood.
Easy to get to local beaches (Bados and Pittulongu) which have beach bars. plenty of loungers and parasols to hire for the day. Turquoise waters, sandy beaches.

Nice Centro and waterfront.
Nice Centro and waterfront. Seemed authentic and residential city. Only stayed one evening, but seemed some good restaurants and pleasant to walk around. Although pleasant, was better for transit spot than base and we were glad that we had stayed in another location for additional travel in the area. NOTE: taxis are difficult to come by and did not answer phone on a Monday morning although we were informed they would by a driver. Be sure to schedule ahead if needed.
Just couldn't fault the hotel in anyway what so ever totally beautiful,
Located in town is ideal short walk to restaurants cafe and bars
Very close to train station if thinking on travelling further
Bus stops with 5 minutes walk to either connection to airport or short drive to the best beaches I've ever seen truly stunning
Hotel clean quiet and so very personal that magic touch you are after not like chain brands
Amazing really was looking to escape for culture and that Italian style look no further
Highly recommended 🇮🇹❤
The staff are super nice and helpful, especially mona and Stefania, they make tou feel like home. The place is super cosy, the restaurant is delicious, the room is super clean every day and it has very comfortable bed.Super close to the beach. The breakfast is amazing with different things every day. The garden is very well taken care of and it has really confi soundlunges.
This is the best place in Olbia. If we come back, we will be choosing this home again. Thank you for everything.
Solid stay for one quick night in Olbia.
Received us late with a self check in. Big tv with Netflix. Comfortable bed, AC and a clean experience. Responsive and willing to help. We left our suitcases for a few hours before departing the day of check out. Very relieving when people do this for you, last minute and with care. Much appreciated.
Close to the center and bus dropped off a few blocks if you’re coming from airport. Worth the money. I recommend.
Piero was very kind and offered us his apartment for one night before our flight home. It is located 15 min walk from Airport and also 8 min by local Bus from nice nearby beach. You can find a mini supermarket and a few Pizzerias around. Also a few local bars and cafes. It is a best place to stay for overnight before leaving Sardinia or even for longer period due to close proximity to Tavolara, Olbia and so beautiful beaches.
The apartment is in an excellent location and you have a short work to local bars, restaurants and architecture. Our bed was changed daily and fresh towels provided which was wonderful.
My partner and I hired a car which is recommend for this part of Sardinia as everything is spread out, in a short drive we came across the most stunning beach Cala Brandinchi - highly recommend both the beach and the apartment.
The villa was immaculately clean, perfect condition. All needed amenities were present. Everything smelled very nice and clean. Absolutely gorgeous garden.
The host was very kind, gave us presents during check-in and even provided a beach-umbrella.
We rate Stazzu Sasimedda 10/10 and will 100% stay here again when coming to Sardinia. Do not hesitate and book it, you will get way more than your money is worth.
Mercure Hotel in Olbia was in a great location and parking was easy to get too. Due to Covid restrictions their breakfast had to be served by their hotel staff. In addition, when we were there we did see others get accommodated to certain foods. For instance, a women ordered a good looking omelet and others with children were accommodated for their little one. Overall, their hotel was decent to stay at.
Very good location, few steps from city center and also to buses stations for the beaches.
We asked for a quiet room and we got one. Very nice furniture and the room size also big enough. Breakfast was very good. We will definitely stay here again.
Also Sardinia is amazing and worth traveling here for the great beaches and clear water! Really loved everything here!
Great location if you arrive or depart from Olbia airport.
Unmatched ambiance, very nice and tidy! Wonderful pool-view from terrace. Very quiet place, close to all beaches and town at the same time. Fully furnished flat with living kitchen, bedroom and bathroom.
Great apartment in a nice area with everything you need.
Highly recommended!
The size of the room is big enough for two people. The bathroom is a bit older but the value for the money is ok. The room was clean and the staff was very polite and professional. The city center is 10-15 minutes walk away. There is a parking that is free. Breakfast is nice - typical Sardinian/Italian - sweet. :)
Extremely polite and pleasant staff ready to solve any problem - even picked us up when we struggled to get to the hotel due to lack of taxis. Great location, beautiful beach nearby, wonderful seaview - the photos correspond to reality. Breakfast alright, dinner exceptional. Rooms very clean (cleaned every day).
this place was spectacular and would highly recommend and Ana was great with anything g we needed, i would highly recommend this paradise, air, bed, place was excellent t i can’t say enough about it by if you go to sardinia with a group this is the place to be,
The place was amazing. I liked it a lot, because you always can take a little walk through and see the "real" Olbia/Sardinia. There are a lot of fancy buildings and you can see how the local people nowadays live. Bus stop to get EVERYWHERE is 1 km away.
We liked having taxi from airport be organized for us, the location being close to beach, the secureness of the property, the outdoor sun chairs, the white clean sheets and towels, and the general aesthetic of the property.
Location is perfect for the ones who wants to be close to the city Olbia or airport. Also a lot of amazing beaches around 🤩Resort is really big and surrounded by pretty gardens. Cinzia and her mom are very sweet 🙃
The host was very kind and greeted us upon arrival. He gave us great information about the beaches, buses, etc. He even drove us to the airport early for our departure. You'll be very happy you stayed at Carpe Diem!
Clean, modern hotel within easy walking distance of the airport (which is why we booked). Lovely to have a pool with poolside service for snacks and drinks - a perfect way to finish off your holiday!
staff, breakfast at the hotel & watching the sunset from the little trattoria across the road from the hotel - unbelievable, with local Sardinians & their families - got a real sense of community.
We enjoyed our stay in Olbia. This boutique hotel is wonderful. Rooms were very clean and well appointed as was the spa . Breakfast was varied and bountiful....John Paulo was a great host.
