The city itself is pretty and have a nice view of the port, but lacks attractions. People are weird and regard themselves too high, be prepared to be snubbed by waiters and attendants. There are beaches nearby, which require some hiking to get to. Aside from that, it's just an ordinary small Italian town with nothing special to show for.

Ortona has beautiful views on the coastline of Abruzzo, especially from the castle. There is also a nice seaside promenade. Shopping facilities and restaurants are ample, and yet it is not yet pestered with mass tourism, but offers the traveller an opportunity to enjoy real Italy.

The drive along the coast around Ortona is stunningly beautiful. Its beautiful blue sea and golden sands are so lovely. The sea itself is shallow and great for bathing and small children. Seafood is good and plentiful and the restaurants on the coast and in the town of Ortona itself are varied and good value. We always stop at Ortona on our way down the Via Adriatica on our way south to visit family in Puglia. Of course the Trabochi (wooden fishing platforms on stilts) are something to see and visit.

The town has tons of history.
The town has tons of history. I visited the Battle of Ortona museum and was very moved. I tried to find the local bus that would go near the Canadian military cemetery but someone offered me a ride. I caught the bus back.
Massimo, the host, has built a clean, funky (in the good sense), personal and eclectic vacation spot, just down the road from the Canadian War Cemetery honouring the Canadians who died during the 1943 battle for Ortona. The room view of the ocean and the gazebo sitting are nice spot to view the countryside and hear wild birds. Close to San Vito Chienito and its great fixed price dinners at the 'trabocchi', the pole-mounted structures along the shore. Massimo is very helpful, while not being intrusive.
Nice apartment in very good location in city center of Ortona - partial seaview and balcony. Perfect for two people.
Ortona is a beautiful city in very nice area in Abruzzo - there is almost everything within short distance: sea, long beaches, mountains, nice small towns and villages, bigger cities, culture and a lot of history....
Great location, comfortable rooms, friendly hosts, and amazing food! Dinner at the restaurant was fantastic, some of the best seafood we have had during our several years in Italy. The salt-crusted sea bass and carbonara al mare con bottarga were especially delicious. Would definitely stay here again!
This hotel was recommended to us and it did not disappoint. The location was convenient to downtown Ortona - everything was walkable. It was great that there was a parking garage, and the breakfast was amazing. The staff were friendly and helpful.
The apartment is well appointed and stocked. The hosts were very gracious and walked us through all the do’s and don’ts. It has a very homey feel to it. The location was good with an easy walking distance to the center of Ortona.
Beautiful view from our rooms terrace. Loved the mix of old and new and how the old tour was incorporated. Gardens lovely and able to have breakfast outside. A small family run hotel.
Clean and spacious room and bathroom with excellent shower. Good breakfast options at local cafes. Central location in Ortona (just not near the station :) ). Very helpful owner.
This was a very good place to overnight. Luisa recommended a local restaurant where we had our best meal in 10 days in Italy! Her place is very clean and well organized
We liked everything. This trip was our 12th stay in Ortona and the best of all. There is no other place I would book after staying at Regina. Excelled my expectations.
