The 'Hip Strip' as really not much to write home about. we got as far as the park, and there was a lot of desolation, and a few shops and bars. the people are very friendly and its very safe, but certainly not much to do that we found.

Staff was very friendly, had a wonderful conversation early one morning with a lovely lady named Delva. She had a wonderful spirit about her and seemed like a very hard worker. I could've talked to her for hours but of course she was working. Had another nice conversation with a gentleman that was cleaning the pool, he told me his name but I can't remember. He's been there for 3 years and said that of all of the places that he's worked at The Blue Orchid was his favorite because of the staff. I agree! Food was great too. I'll definitely be returning in the future.

Montego bay is quite a big city so not somewhere that I would normally stay but after staying in Negril and Ocho Rios it made sense to finish here to be near the airport. Didnt venture out of the hotel as we just wanted relax.

The food is better than most 5star hotels.
The food is better than most 5star hotels. Most staff are friendly and helpful. It is not a 5star property so don’t expect high end amenities. Two pools and hot tubs. However if the place is fully booked you maybe told the hot tubs are not working!!!!. Anyways if the days are hot you may not want to use a hot tub.

I loved the lively vibes there, however this was my first time in Jamaica and I was not aware how far away Mobay is from excursion activities or other points of interest (at least 1.5 hours).
Note for solo travelers: Aside from one tour I booked prior to arrival for horseback riding on the beach and Dunn’s River Falls, which was around $250, excursions just weren’t affordable solo. Being a solo traveler, the transportation cost on top of being a single participant was astronomical ($400-$500 for each activity) for anything I cared to do off the resort so I primarily stayed at my resort. Now, if you are going with other people, transportation and excursion costs are completely reasonable.
I did get to check out Hip Strip briefly one afternoon and Margaritaville. I definitely recommend suiting up and heading to Margaritaville while you’re there. Also HIGHLY recommend going to Dunn’s River Falls if it’s your first time in Jamaica. It was such an incredible and exhilarating experience.
I found an amazing driver/tour guide, Angel Young, towards the end of my trip as well and she made me feel like one of her family. I truly enjoyed my experience there, the culture, the people, and positivity there, and am looking into flights to return to Jamaica later this year. Next time I am planning on staying in Ochos or Negril so that I can experience more of the country and will book my excursions ahead of time.

I stayed at SeaGarden Beach Resort.
I stayed at SeaGarden Beach Resort. The attention during the check-in and check-out was good, they were always ready to answer any question that was asked of them.
The breakfasts met expectations, there were fruits, yogurt, salads, meats, sweets and omelets for all tastes. The lunches didn't have many varieties, I think because at that time not many people eat food and prefer lighter things at the snack bars. For our taste it was not the best. The food was better than lunch, but the meals are aimed more at national guests than international ones.
The beach and pool are pleasant areas to enjoy.
The pool and beach bar offer a variety of drinks and cocktails that make your stay pleasant.
The staff in general works to provide better service and make you feel pleased at all times. In our case, the room they gave us smelled musty or closed for a while, but they immediately gave us another room that had better conditions.
The nightclub, although small, allows you to enjoy it to the fullest. The music is good and varied, although they never played salsa music.
he tube that holds the shower curtain has a chain unsightly.
The tables in the beach bar area are dirty and there is no staff to collect and clean them.
The food in the beach area is reduced to hot dogs and hamburgers. At a specific time (no more than 1 hour) they apparently take the beef, chicken or ribs left over from lunch to offer it to the public. In the pool you can only eat empanadas and pizza coffee, you could think about a soda dispenser machine.
In the passage area from the hotel to the beach there are the same people every day selling marijuana with an annoying attitude towards tourists.
At breakfast they should have cold milk so that there is no need to provide iced milk for cereal.
We cannot give opinions about the city.
We liked the Location of the property most of all things. Excellent location! close to beaches, shops, right on the Hip Strip in Montego Bay!.
The room was spacious, had balcony overlooking the sea, with air condition + ceiling fan, room had what we wanted, kitchen units , cooker, large fridge, kettle, toaster, blender, pots & pans + utensils and a washing machine & ironing board which all works. Love it!
We were able to cook our own meals!
Overall we enjoyed our 🌟 stay at the property!
Would revisit & recommend.
We stayed in the Blue Orchid for our first and last day in Jamaica. We went with friends first (group of 4) and as a couple. The place is very clean, the staff is amazing. We had a great time and they took care of us. We enjoyed the good service and will considered this place for sure if we are coming back to Montego Bay. They also have a nice pool and serve big and nice drinks. They offer taxi to go to the airport at a good price. We ate dinner and breakfast, burger, hot dog and breakfast is good and served rapidly!
we didn’t make it past the gate, it looked to be okay but the property manager ( if that was who she was) made me very uncomfortable. when we arrived we waited for about an hour to be let in the gate and downtown Montego Bay is no place for nice family without a man present. Once the person arrived they wanted our id’s and cash for the room and told they had a plumbing leak. Thankfully the people noticed us waiting and stayed with us to redirect us to a secure hotel.
We stayed in the Spa Suite and the facilities were excellent! We could stay there all day. The room was very clean. As locals, we love how the decor, art and storytelling throughout the hotel highlighted authentic Jamaica. It didn’t feel super touristy, rather genuine and artful. We enjoyed breakfast. It’s really a beautiful hotel. Right in the hip strip, which allows you to go walking and exploring the city of Montego Bay. This is our new go to Mobay hotel.
Very friendly host with a lot of good tips. The room is inside the house of the host and small but has everything you need (AC, fridge, microwave, towels). It has a very nice garden with access to the river where you can sit and chill. There is a supermarket (10-15 min walk) away.
They also offer transportation to and from the airport for a reasonable price.
We would recommend this room and come again for our stay in Montego Bay
The food was very good. Most all inclusive have Americanized food but that was not the case here! The staff were very kind and accommodating. The hotel was clean. The price was great and allowed for a quick budget trip to Jamaica. The location is central so I did not feel stuck on the resort- I could go walk around a bit. I traveled solo with my 4 year old and he was well entertained with the pool and beach.
Alene was very helpful and friendly and on hand to answer questions etc. The rooms were clean and well set out, air conditioning worked, hot water available TVs and fridges in rooms. Lots of towels available. Swimming pool was great, nice balcony area outside the rooms to sit out on. The area was good, quiet and safe- about 10 minute drive into Montego Bay centre. Really nice place to stay!
Lovely hotel close to the airport lovely clean colonial style rooms with very good food and nice friendly staff run by locals far nicer vibe than the usual high chain all inclusive resorts i usually choose for the family with young kids which thankfully didn’t have any rooms available also had own private beach serving drinks and snacks through the day
The hotel and the room I booked was beautiful! I enjoyed the staff that I met, they were really friendly and welcoming, I loved Tiffany at the front desk! The food was really good Day and night. They were very accommodating to any needs in my room. My friends arrived and fell in love too! Hotel is right on the strip and about 5mins from the airport
location is right next to downtown Montego bay! bedrooms have a breathtaking view of the ocean! you have access to the sister hotel right next to it which we do feel have better installation! so we ate there the whole time! we do think 2 nights is enough at this hotel! we wouldnt do a full week!
All inclusive food was good. Unlimited drinks was nice as well. Staff is very friendly and helpful (thanks for your help Junior!). Private beach is nice. Hotel and facilities are clean.
I love the all inclusive part. The staff were all nice and helpful. He property was well maintained. There were activities for everyone from day to night. It’s a beautiful property.
The hosts were warm and friendly and we felt pampered during our stay. I would definitely recommend Takuma boutique hotel and I will use it again if I am staying in Montego Bay.
