Hotels Guests Love in Hakone

  • - private outdoor onsen for extra fee of 500 yen - friendly english speaking staff, excellent service - hotel located right at the bus stop

  • My boyfriend and I enjoyed our stay there during winter vacation. The staff is very nice and helpful. Most importantly, THEY SPEAK PRETTY GOOD ENGLISH! The hostel is clean and built of wood, which looks clean and cozy. Price is reasonable compared with all other pricey hotels in Hakone. Remember to take off your shoes before you walk in!

  • The major drawcard of this hotel is the views of Mt Fuji from the room and the onsen - and I expect it is one of the few places in Hakone that can offer this. It was our first ryokan and onsen experience, which was a bit of a novelty, but having stayed elsewhere, it's not a real traditional ryokan and if this is to be your only stay in one, I would recommend paying a bit more for much better service and a better experience. Breakfast was good with lots of Japanese and Western style options.

  • Location...Tozan T-line bus stops right in front of hotel. The view of Mt Fuji from the room was beautiful. Traditional tatami mat and futon in a Ryokan style room. Room very clean. Staff very friendly and helpful. Keiseki dinner fantastic and breakfast very good selection. Onsen relaxing and wonderful. Enjoyed wearing Yukata around hotel. This hotel made visiting Hakone a highlight of visiting Japan

The Prince Hakone Very good 8.4 The peaceful environment, especially the walk along the lake.
Fukuzumiro Excellent 8.6 This is an experience in Japoanese traditional culture that everyone should treat themselves too at least once in their lifetime. The service was second to none in the world. The young man on the front desk just couldn't do enough to make our stay just perfect in every way he could. The beautiful lady who waited on us in our room and her assistant were the perfect example of Japanese polite, happy service and the room itself was spectacular. The futon provided us with a relaxing night's sleep and the babbling brook outside was so relaxing I didbn't want to leave the room except to enjoy the amazing onsen - rocks, waterfall, steaming plungepool whilst viewing the amazing countryside. The food provided full immersion in Japanese eating. We consider our days at Fukuzumiro as the highlight of our trip to Japan. It deserves a rating of 10 out of 10
Hoeiso Very good 8.4 Service was embarrassingly good. Dinner was superb. Onsen is amazing. Make sure you ask about reserving the outdoor baths for two. Stunning!
Hakone Hotel Kowakien Good 7.5 We did a great deal for two nights and we very happy You can reach mt fuji by bus! Do it: it's worth the trouble and take the first bus at 7 am! 1000 yen with hakone day ticket Very nice garden Very nice mall and location around the hotel Very nice onsen
Hakonenomori Okada Good 7.4 One word: amazing. This hotel is quite far from the station, but you can use 100yen shuttle bus to go there. The atmosphere was just perfect. The room was splendid. And the scenery was evergreen. This hotel was quite cheap compared to others around the same location. With two onsen places to choose, this hotel made my journey unforgettable.
Fujiya Hotel Good 7.9 Classic hotel that has been around since the late 1800's. Beautiful public areas and restaurants
Yumoto Fujiya Hotel Excellent 8.7 The staff did a wonderful job of meeting all of our needs. The view from outside our room was wonderful and the river provided a great opportunity for pictures. Also the location gave us easy access to Mt. Fuji.
Hotel Green Plaza Hakone Very good 8.2 We enjoyed everything about this Hotel. The breakfast buffet offered a wide range of options and the special dinner served to us in the evening was delicious. The pick up and drop off service to the Ropeway station was much appreciated. Staying here was a special way of spending our last 2 nights in Japan. We also enjoyed the welcome drink both nights in the lobby and the live music performance on our last evening
Fuji-Hakone Guest House Excellent 8.6 Everything was excellent. The nest there is in this region.
Gora Tensui Wonderful 9 The location is just few meters next to Gora station but very quiet. The meal, both dinner and breakfast are extremely good in terms of food materials, taste, tableware and food presentation, comparing with similar level hot spring hotel.
Hotel Okada Good 7.9 We spent a night in superior family room with tatami floor. The room is really large and has both western beds and futons. It also has en suite bathroom. The Kaiseki dinner course is really delicious. The location is good. I mean easy transportation via shuttle bus A from the station. The impressive thing is the onsen. Two onsen in the 8th floor of the hotel is peaceful, feeling close to nature. The other 6 onsens (Yunosato) locates in the other hotel, which is still in Okada chain. It has bubbling bath. But I think the onsen is quite small than expected. Although the staffs are not fluent in English, they are willing to help. We cannot find a way to wear yukata and the staff did help us getting dress. Really thankful. But overall I like this hotel very much.
Ichinoyu Honkan Very good 8.1 Meal Private onsen (open air means balcony, not garden) Very attentionate staff
Senkei Good 7.6 I am so glad we chose to stay in Ryokan, such a new and nice experience. The room is so spacious and relaxing. The sleeping on futon was awesome. The best nights I ever had. We had traditional dinner. They brought lots of food - all amazing. The onsen is good as well, not too many people. Very clean. Location is good as well. Close to the train station and shopping.
Kinnotake Tonosawa Very good 8.4 Luxury accommodation with private hot tubs with fresh spring water on balcony/terrace. 7 course Japanese dinner menu was to die for. Staff could not have been any more friendly or improved their service.
Hakone Tent Excellent 8.6 The onset was nice and a good temperature. The decor is modern and chic.
