Fukuzumiro Very good 8.5 This ryokan is not an accomodation, it is an experience. In our two weeks travel around Japan the night here is one of the most outstanding moments we lived.
Hoeiso Very good 8.1 The most memorable part was the traditional Japanese cuisine - the 10- dish dinner along with dessert was the most authentic and delicious Japanese meal I've had. The hot springs are also wonderful (make sure to call/email ahead to reserve a private session), and service was great.
Hakone Hotel Kowakien Pleasant 6.8 Very nice Onsen. Large rooms. Great view of the forest, so nicely located, and just next to a bus stop so easy to get around during day time (with Hakone 2 day Pass), not far from Hakone Open Air Museum (worth a visit).
Hakonenomori Okada Good 7.5
Fujiya Hotel Very good 8 This hotel was amazing. It provided a totally different Japanese experience. The staff were absolutely incredible, they followed up a lost parcel for us, were super friendly, spoke good English and were very professional at all times. If you are interested in Japan in the 1920s this is worth a go.
Yumoto Fujiya Hotel Excellent 8.7 It was right beside the subway station, which really saved my day because I was so tired of dragging my suitcase...Great value for the impeccable service!!
Hotel Green Plaza Hakone Very good 8 Mt Fuji view. Outdoor onsen. Great spread for breakfast. Dinner very nicelypresented. Lvery nice live piano music and clarinet concert in evening.
Fuji-Hakone Guest House Very good 8.4 Beautifully designed house in the mountains. Staying here was our no. 1 highlight of our entire trip here on Japan. Would definitely consider coming back to set up for further exploring. Staff and family are brilliant.
Hakone Suimeisou Very good 8.5 We loved the complete traditional atmosphere. As one of us was learning Japanese, it was a fantastic opportunity to practice the language. The staff obliged us with speaking small talk in Japanese. The staff also assisted us in putting on the Kimono and how to wear it (although this was not within their job - they went above and beyond). Fantastic!
Tsuki no Koigokoro Good 7.1 the young man on reception was Ex tremely helpful. woud have been a bit stuck without him.
Ashinoko Ichinoyu Very good 8.2 The "onsen" we excellent. They have an outdoor one that can be reserved on the same day (only within the inn) for that evening. There are two outdoor that ones so the chance of getting one was good. The public "onsen" was on the second floor and always public (gender separated). The meals (which need to reserved in advance were good standard Japanese fare (including Natto for on the breakfast items). Because it was low season, there was only one other restaurant open in town at night. The room was clean and the Yakata came in 3 sizes including ll which fit me much better. You do not need to remove your shoes until you are in your room I enjoyed my stay and loved both "onsen". I am looking forward to returning some day..
Ichinoyu Honkan Good 7.7 Hotel in Japanese style, very good views, big room.
Senkei Very good 8.3 The room is excellent with a big patio. The staffs are very nice and friendly.
Mikawaya Ryokan Excellent 8.9 The staff were really great, friendly, helpful and spoke excellent English, they really made a fuss of us. The food was fantastic and the view from our room was lovely, a sea of cherry blossom.
