Beirut er preget av at det for ikke lenge siden var krig i området, men mye er gjenreist. Bykjernen er ikke stor, det går helt fra å bevege seg rundt hele bysenteret til fots hvis du er glad i å gå. Trafikken er kaotisk og ikke særlig fotgjengervennlig. Avtal alltid pris på taxi. De har nokså faste priser ca 5000 (libaneske pund) per person uavhengig av lengde så lenge det er inne i byen. Store forskjeller på priser på restaurant avhengig av turiststrøk eller ikke. Dagsturer til Baalbeck og Byblos anbefales. Nasjonalmuseet anbefales veldig, men les historien om museet på forhånd.GerdNorge
