Southwark Apartments Very good 8.3 Everything was perfect for me. The staff was courteous, friendly, and helpful. All the amenities were there and then some. Bed was extremely comfortable and bathroom very clean. The area is very quiet at night. When upstairs, the elevator helps with moving heavy suitcases. The price is reasonable for this type of accommodation. I have stayed in Christchurch many times over a span of about 20 years time and score this one at the top of my list.

    Natural Beauty Abounds

This seriously stunning New Zealand city is dusting itself off from a series of recent earthquakes. While Christchurch's old English buildings like ChristChurch Cathedral are being rebuilt, the magnificent Botanic Gardens and Hagley Park sustain its reputation as the Garden City.

Located on the Avon River, NZ’s 2nd-largest city has Victoria Square at its center. Area highlights include the Canterbury Museum and the Gothic-style Arts Centre. Sumner Beach is a favorite location for locals when the sun is shining.

Out towards the spectacular harbor town of Lyttelton, the Christchurch Gondola ride is the perfect place to enjoy a sweeping view of the city.

The South Island’s capital is a good starting-off point for extreme sports like bungee jumping and white-water rafting. The majestic Southern Alps surround the city with world-class ski resorts like Methven, at the foot of Mt. Hutt.

A large selection of motels and hotels are available on, including some around Christchurch International Airport.

Hotels that guests love in Christchurch

    • The location is very near to the airport. And the 24 hours free shuttle bus is great for the very late and early flight. The room is clean and no noisy. We stay in the hotel in our first and last day in New Zealand.

    • We liked everything, the location (because the purpose of visit was swimming in the ocean), very friendly hosts, comfortable room and excellent breakfasts. We stayed in different hotels and apartments during our journey to New Zealand which are rated 4-5*, however Le Petit Hotel is far more better.

    • This motel has a convenient location and updated and comfortable facilities. After experiencing many New Zealand motels with cold floors and single glazing windows(visited in May), the heated tile floor kitchen and bathroom as well as effective double glazing was a very welcome treat. This last feature was especially important given the motels proximity to the airport! The owner and staff were also pleasant and very helpful.

    • Given its proximity to the airport, we stayed at Airport Palms on arrival in Christchurch and on Riccarton Road on our departure (to be closer to the train station). As would be expected, Airport Palms was considerably quieter. The studio we were allocated met all expectations, being of a decent size, clean, comfortable and well equipped. As such, we had no complaints whatsoever.

    • It was really a pleasure to spend time at the St-James B&B for both the beginning and end of our trip to New Zealand. Just a short shuttle away from Christchurch airport. Food, service, comfort and general travel tips and advice were all excellent. I Highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys comfort and pampering in a luxurious environment
