Beautiful fishing village with real Portuguese flair.
Beautiful fishing village with real Portuguese flair. We have been there three times in the last 15 years. My wife's favorite and dream place. The city is slowly going through a transformation and is becoming more touristy, but we can't judge that hardly since we were always there before or after the season. On the weekends, we noticed a little negatively the many tourist buses that flooded the city for an afternoon.

Nazaré is beautiful.
Nazaré is beautiful. It's a great place to chill and watch the sea. The beach is wide and clean. All the restaurants and bars in the area (that we tried) were great. Shopkeepers were kind and helpful. Be sure to get up to the Lighthouse and check out the Surf Museum. Super cool. It's 2eu to get in and totally worth it. The views up there are awesome. Seriously, I have not one negative thing to say about it.

Nazare was wonderful. I wear accommodations were great.
Nazare was wonderful. I wear accommodations were great. Gil the manager was amazing with us. In fact my friend left her coat in the closet. When they cleaned the room he found it and sent me messages and mailed it to a spot where we could pick it up. That was amazing.
The apartment was adorable It was perfect for our purposes the view from one bedroom of the ocean was amazing. The view off the kitchen balcony was great and we could see the ocean as well. This is a perfect apartment for two people sometimes for.
I would certainly book that again if I were to be in that area. Thank you

Quaint little town with local vibes, great for a few days visit. It was very chilled and quiet and surrounded by beautiful forest. Cuisine is mainly fish and seafood, though there are plenty of Italian and meat places. Also choc a block with gelaterias!!! We caught Carnaval and it was fun to see the cavalcade and the locals dressed up.

What I liked best was seeing the big wave surf contest.
What I liked best was seeing the big wave surf contest. There were these amazing and huge 20-50 ft waves that arrived in sets located near the lighthouse on the cliff at the North Beach while I was in Nazare. The beach was also very nice and wide both north and south of the lighthouse. The sunsets were spectacular, and I enjoyed watching the sun set while drinking wine and people watching at the little beachside restaurants. I also enjoyed walking down south to the marina and going north to the surf museum at the lighthouse on the big cliff in the town of Sitio. The local bus only cost €1.50 to ride from Nazare (near the central market) to Sitio where the lighthouse is located. The traditional food (seafood) was really fresh and I liked that the tradition of fish drying that is done by the fish ladies was still being practiced.

Great beach but the real action is on the hill in Sitio...
Great beach but the real action is on the hill in Sitio where there are the great surf waves to be seen in the winter months and the very impressive display of surf boards and photos of the guys who've surfed the world's biggest waves in Nazare,
Stayed two nights. Great room, balcony with ocean views. Serviceminded staff. Nice rooftop space with jacuzzi. Hotel lent us beach towels and were generally always available either physically or by phone. Lots of restaurants close by. Air con in room so no need to open windows for air, so did not hear any noise from the street at night. Lots of good seafood in Nazaré :-) Breakfast was at nearby restaurant, and was decent (Southern European style, ie croissant and jam, not my favourite).
This was such a great find - lovely hosts and comfortable lodging. We travel a lot and were pleasantly surprised to find this last minute. This place is a gem! The room was impeccably clean and well-appointed. The breakfast was the best we had in Portugal - absolutely delicious! (and I'm a picky eater :) We also appreciated the history and the wall photo of the host's parents. The hosts also gave us excellent recommendations for dinner. Nazare is special and so was Sweet Dreams.
Lovely and very friendly staff. The room was very clean and the mini fridge had enough space for a couple of snacks. You can walk from the hotel to the beach in no time at all. We also ordered dinner for our room and we were very pleased with the meal. Finally, the staff was super nice to our infant daughter and told us if there was something we needed, they could help. We appreciate this very much and will definitely return if we are in Nazaré again.
Room and bathroom were very clean. Comfortable beds. Rm 303 was cosy with a great view to Nazare beach, a one-minute walk away. Many restaurants in the area. Good wifi. The staff were super friendly and helpful. They had reserved a parking space for us (very important even though it's the end of November!) and walked with us to the spot, insisting to carry our small bags. Heating was fast, efficient and much appreciated on a very cold, wintry night.
Compared to the many other hotels and guest houses I've seen on my motorcycle tour in Portugal the experience at the FIKA was really exceptional. It's the spirit of the host (Veronica) that makes you feel at home immediately. The guest house was built, furnished and decorated with great attention to detail and has everything you need, even for a long stay. Next time in Nazaré, I'm sure where to go :-)
The location is awesome! To see the ocean from the window is stunning. Comfortable beds. The overall design of the rooms and bathroom is like from the 18th century, I love that kind of thing. The staff is very nice. I will definitely come back here again. This is the best hotel I have stayed in Portugal. Everything is flawless, don't change a thing
Hotel is located in the center of Nazare, next to stores, restaurants and beach. It has own garage that makes it convenient for keeping the car. The was big, clean and nice balcony. The hotel has excellent breakfast for all tastes and staff is very helpful and courteous. We enjoyed with our stay and very happy with our choice to stay at Praia.
Excellent communication. Great location. Very clean. Perfect for our short stay. Restaurants and beach within a 2 minute walk. Easy to find. Will be using home sweet praia the next time we go back as we loved nazaré. Old Town feel about it. Really really good. Probably my best short stay trip. 5 star all round
Perfect location, close ro Nazaŕe main attractions. Free parking is available a minute walking from the hotel.
Staff was very helpful with food options and more. Room facilities were great (large room, comfortable bed, big bathroom).
Would definitely recommend it if you are stopping in Nazaŕe.
- Location and ocean view!!!
- Warm
- Quiet at night despite the central location, could have the window open and listen to the waves crashing
- Friendly ladies in the reception
- Clean
- Good bed linen and towels
- Shower gel in the shower (not common here in Portugal)
- Hairdryer
The hotel's location is perfect. for restaurants and the beautiful Nazaré beach.
The staff, especially Teresa, were so friendly and welcoming.
The hotel was so very clean and the breakfast was delicious. When we come back we would definitely stay here again.
The host is amazing! We felt like home. Beautiful with a very authentic flavour of Portugal living, so comfortable in all the possible ways, we've got presents from the host and great tips. Perfectly clean and warm. The best accommodation ever!
I really liked the location of the hotel. It was right downtown of Nazare so much easier for my parents to get around to different areas. The breakfast was awesome. It had a great view from the breakfast room. Totally awesome place to stay!!
I'm Sofia, a solo traveler who recently visited the By the Beach Hotel in Nazaré, Portugal. While the location is excellent and the room was clean and had a small view of the ocean, my experience was marred by a series of unsettling events.
Adorable guesthouse next to beachfront. The owner welcomed us in the best way, funny and professional. Also gave us some suggestions about places and restaurants. I'd definitely spend my stay again here once in Nazaré.
Thank you!
My first stop in Portugal so was not used to the narrow streets, decided on rental car due to leg injury and was able to find a parking space 4 blocks away near the supermarket (which was great).
Comfortable and clean, equipped with all necessary stuff for a stay. Literally, the most comfortable place in Portugal I've stayed. The host is friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.
Across the street from the ocean. Our room ha amazing views of the sand and beach on multiple sides of the hotel. Their restaurant was excellent, best seafood we had in Portugal!
Everything was perfect! The place, the decoration, the hosts, every little detail was taken care in order to welcome us in a outstanding Quinta in Portugal!
