It's crowded but interesting. Lots of folks from Argentina and Brazil come to buy at big discounts and take home. But as a tourist, Ciudad del Este (CDE) has some very worthwhile places to visit such as Tres Fronteras, Saltos de Monday, Itapua Damn and you are really close to the falls at Iguazu (certainly worth the drive!).

Ciudad Del Este is a true unique place.
Ciudad Del Este is a true unique place. Lot of people, I would say from all over world. Lots of tourist shopping duty free products. Bad traffic to drive, and some places full of people to walk. But people in general are trying to sell and to do so they really chase you around, but all friendly in general. Rush day starts very early around 5am and finish around 3pm every day. In the afternoon there´s no much to do around, only enjoy some bars and restaurants. During the day, all the shopping malls full of tourist.

Although I spend three nights at CDE I havent spend much of the day time there. I visited the falls and Itaipu, would have liked another day to explore more of the city. Even though it is a lot of shopping.

There's waterfall Salto del Monday, it's smaller than Iguassu falls but still worths to see it (especially with the kids of 7 - 12 years old, there're some activities like zipping and son on for them). The entrance to Itaipu is for free from the side of Paraguay.

where should I begin… I rate this hotel in my top ten places I’ve stayed in years of travel. as a solo female traveler, I immediately felt extremely safe, secure, and cared for by the kind and attentive staff. this place feels like a home. the garden is beautiful, the breakfast room feels like a family gathering place. the location is perfect - near some of CDEs best parks, away from the chaos of town but only a short taxi ride in if needed. very good vibes here, wouldn’t stay anywhere else in CDE.
I felt safe and very comfortable at the hotel. Excellent customer service
The staff is incredibly friendly, helpful and polite.
I can recommend this hotel to anyone, family or solo traveller, on vacation or business.
The place is very quiet.
The restaurant is great. The pool, jacuzzi and sauna are great. I sometimes had my meals on the patio, which is a great place to eat and relax.
I am so grateful to all staff.
Be cautious with this hotel. At least dont prepay. Way upon arrival, we tried to call and write the hotel about our late arrival Nobody responded and since we would arrive around midnight, we decided to look for another option. We paid, but didnt stay there. They never responded to us. @booking.com: why sending confirmation emails with contact data of the hotel which are not valid or active?
I had a great stay at Hummingbird hostel. The rooms are big and comfortable and has air conditioning. The owner was friendly and very helpful with recommendations for tourist activities and nightlife. The hostel is located in a very nice neighborhood and close to the city center. There are also several nice parks in the neighborhood. I would stay here again when in Ciudad del Este.
The price and location were the main factors of my booking. I could walk across from Brazil and straight to the hotel without any taxi. It was bare bones. You got everything you needed and nothing more, which was fine with me. The staff ended up being the best thing about my stay, with them helping with sightseeing, tours and then contacting my Uber that took off with my bag in it!
The nicest place I have stayed in Ciudad del Este so far. Extremely friendly owner (speaks English perfectly), lovely room with a very comfy bed, TV with many channels (could even watch Copa Libertadores matches), stable working internet (approx. 40 MBit/s) and the absolute highlight - the breakfast! It will keep you stuffed until dinner time.
We enjoyed our stay at Hotel & Restaurante Guarania. The staff was super accommodating. Its location can not be beaten. Plenty of places to shop in the neighborhood, and only a 10-minute walk to Friendship Bridge connecting to Brazil. While you should not expect luxury, our room was clean, and the air conditioning and Wifi worked well.
A guy named David in the reception was the best thing in the hotel.
He was helping us two weeks prior to our arrival with all our questions, then continued with his spectacular service and attendance during our stay. He is truly the best staff I have met during my many years of travelling around the world.

The hotel was new and modern and the rooms were spacious and comfortable. Very good location close to several good Chinese restaurants. Very good breakfast spread, the baked goods are especially good. The wifi was very good.
Friendly hosts. This is named as "hotel" but it feels like staying in a home
Large room
Safe garden type area away from The dusty busy streets
Good breakfast
Great price for what is (compared to hotels in Europe)
Nice, well organised and pleasant hotel in a quiet neighborhood. Very good service and breakfast.
Good place to relax after a day with a lot of impressions, like Itaipu and the Foz do Iguazu on the brasilian side.
The hotel exceeded our expectations from the pictures and the price. It was incredibly comfortable and peaceful. The coffee at breakfast was some of the best I have had in Paraguay, living here for 13 years!
Great value of money! One of the better hotels I have been to lately. It had everything a modern hotel should have and the restaurant was great. The staff was friendly and I have only positive words to say
Imagine youth hostel that converted to hotel. nothing fancy, didn't feel like hotel more of guest house; lobby is minimalistic and obscure, lobby felt like huge school hall.
