Nice place but the main street was under construction.
Nice place but the main street was under construction. So not that pretty, but once it will be finished it will be nice. Did two hikes and got good info at the tourist information. Try the creps at the small café near to the church in the new buildings. Delicious

I would recommend timing your stay correctly so as to avoid stormy roads on the 420 bend road to Cilaos. I would also recommend you take a drone for drone photography; Cilaos is magnificent and a drone could help show that a bit better.

Her spoken English was good, which is quite hard to find in and around Cilaos. The accommodation is a beautiful old terraced house with superb 360-degree views of Cilaos town and the surrounding mountains. Nothing beats the view from the terrace. Night sky watching is also sensational because you're away from all the light pollution. The breakfast was homemade and scrumptious.

Free breakfast is bonus even it is only jam and butter (with juice, coffee, tea or cocoa), to have some cheese or ham would be nice, but for one night stay it was good enough and tasty with small piece of water melon.

The bathrooms were clean enough and the bed was comfy. I never met the hosts but they knew enough English to help me check in by phone as I arrived after 6 pm and called them to let them know.
