1 stars Bucksport Motor Inn Wonderful 9 We got in from Houston after a delay in Atlanta, but we were getting there late, in a driving rain. When I called to make sure that was okay, Val told me not to worry, she'd have our room all ready for us. The next morning when we stepped out to go talk with Val and Eddie, we were shocked - for the first time in history, Maine had snow November 1. And not just a bit of snow. But a true "nor'easter", with the wind blowing so hard, the snow was coming in sideways! We made it out to the only restaurant open for breakfast, "The Rise and Shine", and back to the motel. My husband to go out again amd when he came back, the tires were so slick he couldn't make it up the slight incline and ha ssd to park at the bottom and walk up to the motel. During all of this, Val and Eddie were wonderful. They just got on with shoveling and plowing the snow off the parking lot. They've been renovating the motel, with Eddie doing all the work, and it's a wonderfully thought out design. They kept the "50's vibe" and put a few updates in. We never lost power, like so many others did, so we felt really lucky. The fridge and microwave gave great service! We loved it there and hope to spend time there again.
3 stars Fort Knox Inn Very good 8.2 Great breeze off the Penobscot River with wonderful views of the new bridge and the fort. Within walking distance to eateries and other amenities. Loved the mile long walking path along the river.

Hotels that Guests Love in Bucksport

    • I hate spending a lot of money on hotels since I spend very little time in the room. Motels, although cheaper, make me nervous since most of them are pretty run-down. After reading the reviews, I decided to take a chance and I'm so glad I did. The room was clean, comfortable, and tastefully decorated. The gentleman at the front desk was cordial and extremely helpful. I love this place and plan on returning with my wife.

    • Convenient to all Town offerings, which are few and limited but acceptable. I was brought up in Bucksport so have good insight as to the area. I've stayed at the Best Western and choose the Bucksport Motor Inn over BW.

    • We were checked in by the owners who had quite a lot of knowledge of the area, restaurants and attractions. Towels were fresh daily and the rooms were very clean, freshly painted. I would recommend this motor inn to any traveler!!

    • I mistook the front desk staff for Southerners--for their warm hospitality! Traveling alone to visit my brother in Rockland, I found this little gem of a hotel when closer accommodations were sold out due to Lobster Fest. And, despite the hour-long drive to and fro, I loved staying at the Fort Knox Inn and walking the miniature Main Street.

    • Location, Location, Location!!! If you need a stop en route to Acadia - make this the place! Bucksport may just be one of the best kept secrets of Maine... The Penobscot Narrows Bridge & Observation Tower steal the show - but there is much more to discover here... Inn is great value for the money & staff more than happy to assist or even just chat while enjoying morning coffee... Great restaurants within walking distance & an ice cream stand with some original flavors to try...
