As a Big Island resident, I think Kona is over rated and overpriced for what it is. I think it looks like a strip mine with some beaches. Ali'i drive shops has many vacancies. The location was the best. Condo was spacious & clean. Bed super comfy. The balcony was the best. One of the main reasons we chose it. Great ocean view. Sitting there listening to the waves was lovely. Close to lots of restaurants. Kona is very walkable but there's also a free bus that runs pretty often down Alli drive. Kailua-Kona has nice beach/ocean access along Ali'i Drive and there are a few good restaurants. Snorkeling was great due to the amount and variety of fish we saw. For us it was too expensive, too busy and traffic could be bad at times. We were super disappointed that we had to pay almost $30 for 2 hours of parking in one of the parking lots near to end of Ali'i' drive to have dinner out one night. All of the free street parking was full. $30...Outrageous! We might be done with all of Hawaii at this point due to crowding and costs.Guest review byTracy - 8.0

But the day before we checked in the hotel gave me a hard time because of my service dog and this was not ok. They stressed me the whole day about it even I let them know I bring my device dog 3 weeks or more in advance. And then out of a sudden I don’t receive a message back and I came to big island with a usury feeling if we are welcome at the resort or not.
