Marathon is a great stop before going to key west or if you want to fish or do activities. KW isn't a great destination for that. Marathon is much quieter but also closes early.
I'd much rather stay in Marathon for a longer part and do an overnight in KW.

Went to Bahia Honda State Park - beaches were ok.
Went to Bahia Honda State Park - beaches were ok. They offer paddle boarding and kayak rental there. went on several trails, which were nice. Went on the old 7 mile bridge (cloudy day), but didn't get to see sunrise. Drove out to see mini deers and got to see a glimpse of one (it was not near sunset or sunrise, which is the time they recommend you go to see them).

The place was definitely NOT a resort.
The place was definitely NOT a resort. Very run down, pool was nasty and cloudy and the place doesn’t look nor feel clean. Tons of construction during the week and rather terrible if I wanted to sit outside and enjoy that “water view “ which was, not much of a Waterview. It’s a canal in between two concrete walls. Paid too much for such a not so great motel at best!
We had a really lovely two night stay here at Sea Dell motel. Ryan who checked us in was friendly and had some good recommendations for local restaurants. We enjoyed chilling by the pool, the rooms were spacious and had all we needed. Just a 10/15 min drive from a good beach (perhaps the best in the Keys?). From here we drove down to Key West for the day, a really lovely drive and Key West is not to be missed. Loved the arty/Hippy vibes. Could have stayed here much longer!! Thanks Ryan and the Sea Dell motel for an amazing stay.
This was our first time to Marathon/Keys. We usually go to the Gulf Shores/ Panama City area. The resort is in the middle of a restoration led by Christian and his wife. There is work being done everywhere but it’s not intrusive. The property is very clean, the rooms were great. Kayak and paddle board rentals on site for great rates. There is a Publix and Walgreens within walking distance. The continental breakfast is highly underestimated and under advertised, it’s amazing. Live music poolside is great.
Perfect for a family getaway while in the Keys during low season (we can imagine how crowded this must get), conveniently located mid-way if you consider taking a break before Key West or going back to Miami- the unit that we were staying at was fully renovated and facing the water, away from the main resort building- which allowed us to see beautiful sunsets in a perfectly quiet environment as well as conveniently located walking distance from one of the restaurant and the kids pool.
Centrally located in the Florida Keys, it was ideal for seeing the sights that the Keys have to offer. The property is set back from the main highway which made it a quiet place to relax. For the amount of rooms at the resort there was more than enough space and equipment for everyone. Considering that it was fully booked, we only saw a few people every day. The staff were attentive and helpful whenever needed.
I don’t know where I begin !!!! AMAZING 🙌🏻 super clean , calm , quiet , relaxing place , I can’t explain you have to experience it , the staff beyond than helpful. The lady at the front desk were super attentive. I am in love with this place. I’m super picky when it comer to rent for vacations and I nailed it this time better than any other hotel I’ve stayed at the Fl Keys. Highly recommended!!!!!!
The location is great, right in the middle Keys. The hotel grounds were really nice, with lots of picnic areas and access to the marina, with great views of the water. Everyone we met there was very friendly and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there. I will definitely stop again, and next time bring my dogs since they are pet friendly and affordable pet fees. I can't wait to go back.
Great staff, pet friendly hotel. Old keys vibe. Ice machine was broken but they gave out ice from front desk. Hotel is older, although clean. Grounds could use to be cleaned more often. Overall, good for the money. The staff at front desk is so efficient and friendly! We will be back!
The situation is really great, in the Keys- Marathon. In the Marina itself, and a place to park a car.
The houses are so nice ! and to have an outside area with a table and chairs to have the breakfast there, this is amazing ! We will never forget our stay here !
Excellent stay. We've loved the location, kayak and paddle rental, friendly stuff, breakfast "to go". 1h drive to key west, <20 mins for Bahia Honda; there's a decent beach in town as well. Located in the middle of the Keys so you can explore both directions.
The hotel is nice. I would definitely stay at this hotel again . The location is very nice, on the Florida Keys, close to the pontoon with boats. There is a small and nice restaurant near the hotel. Cross the street you can find shops.
The rooms are great - very spacious.
It was great to have the private beach just few meters away from the hotel.
Chris who was checking us in, was very nice and professional.
We enjoyed every minute of our stay
Outstanding resort hotel in a perfect location - rooms were amazing, the Tiki bar is an absolute must visit and the on-property restaurant is excellent; helpful and friendly staff, clean and well organised
Lights at night were a nice addition, everything else was nice and charming.
I was at the hotel 6 years ago and came back to the keys now. We hope
to come back again.
Location was wonderful! Quiet and perfect for sunset viewing. The room was clean and comfortable. Perfect for the value especially compared to other Keys hotels.
