It’s is a private game reserve very central and relatively close to the Kruger Gate. It sits next to a river so animals are nearby and approaching the water for drinks and pasture. Beautifully arranged with a morning viewing platform overlooking the river and in the evening the dinner is served in another area that holds a campfire and resembles a village Boma. Lovely lay out and decor. Also the set-up is all inclusive with 2 game drives. We truly enjoyed our driver Shannon who shared with us so much information on nature, animals and all about her beautiful country! Best experience! We saw lions and even the hard to find rhino! So many zebras and antelope- and the last day Shannon tracked the leopards: what a fantastic experience: totally recommend!

The Honeymoon Tent is AMAZING in an amazing setting. I stayed there alone after upgrading from a standard tent, which was fine, but I didn’t care for their setting at all. Totally worth the onsite upgrade.
Leo was a wonderful and very knowledgeable driver/guide. The food was good. They made special vegetarian dishes for me at every meal. The staff all wonderful and accommodating. It’s a lovely and well maintained property.

Great park, amazing wildlife, fantastic experience.
Great park, amazing wildlife, fantastic experience. This being said, it is not a zoo! Don't expect to see all the existing animals in the parc! Some are easy to spot and other not so much, this is real animal kingdom and it's difficult to say who is watching who! Sun sets are also amazing with beautiful colors. Vegetation is small but dense(bushes). According to our guide it is easier to spot the animal during winter / dry season. Bushes hve less leaves making easier spotting animals and the animals gather around the water spot. During summer it is the opposite. Bushes are more dense and r'there is water everywhere making animal spotting more difficult. So an advice: winter is great for animals but of course temperature are lower so be prepared for low temperature and bring some warm clothes.

Very good upmarket hotel with well equipped luxury rooms and facilities. Dinner and breakfast included in the rate and both were exquisite. Friendly and helpful staff to assist from the moment you arrive till the moment you leave. I can highly recommend a planned holiday to this hotel which is situated only a few hundred metres away from the Kruger Gate leading to Skukuza. Great vacation.

If you’re thinking of booking this hotel, stop thinking and do it. The accommodations were absolutely incredible. The staff was so friendly & helpful. We took 1 game drive with them and it was a 200/10. Our guide, Elvis, did everything in his power to help us find the Big Five & I’ll never forget him & his knowledge. Get to Kruger Gate Hotel now!!

There was some delay in the pick up from the airport which we had requested. Apart from that the stay was well beyond expectations. The staff was ever smiling, polite and eager to please. The food quality and spread was very substantial even for vegetarians.
It was value for money

Skukuza in the Kruger park is amazing, as is the whole park really! We saw the big 5 in 3 days of self driving with kids (8&9) and stayed in Berg-en-dal rest camp for 2 nights and the Kruger Gate Hotel for 2 nights as well, to see a different part of the park. The restaurant at the hotel and Skakuza rest camp we’re both lovely. As a tourist though, in SA, you should always be vigilant when travelling especially with all your stuff.
Just an incredible hotel, I didn't want to leave.
The quality of the rooms is amazing (I stayed in a room off the train and inside it was actually even better than the carriages - only missed out on the view and novelty). Food was also fantastic and service very friendly.
The pool/bar area is a breathtaking place with constant hippo views while we were there and fantastic bar service.
The best thing was the game drives - Sizwe was the best, charismatic and took time to show us stuff he knew we'd be interested in.
Overall the accomodation is outstanding!
Excellent location just 100m from the Kruger National Park gate (located outside Kruger so you don't need to worry about getting to the gate on time)
Clean room - cleaned in the morning with turn down service at night
Well maintained facilities

Clean gym - treadmill, rowing, weights, bike
Stunning pools
Wildlife around accomodation
Restaurant at accomodation

Everything about this hotel was perfect. The setting is incredible with its own private area within the national park. The hotel was luxurious and rooms were all spacious and beautifully decorated with a big decked outside area with plunge pool. The food was delicious especially the special BBQ night. All the staff were so friendly, professional and helpful. The safari experience was fantastic and our ranger Lazarus was amazing. Couldn't rate this place higher.
We loved everything. I truly do not know, how one could not give 10 stars for this hotel. From the moment you arrive, you feel like home. They spend a lot of thoughts on the details, as you will have 2-3 people, that will be responsible for specific room numbers and who know your preferences, names and take personal care of you. The location, the venue, the rooms, the view (hippos) are amazing. This was such a unique and wonderful experience
The lodge is done on extremely high standard and just immersed in nature. You find everything you need there for a comfortable stay. It is also great that guests can use facilities of the Kruger Gate Hotel.
What makes a real difference though is the staff - Clint and his helper who went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable in very extreme conditions (we stayed on the week of flooding). We were sad to leave.
Who could ask for more? A well-kitted out tent with aircon, crockery, cutlery, fresh clean linens, etc., it was a wonderful experience staying here. We were located under the trees not 20 metres from the pool and a just a mere 25 or so further to the Skukuza train restaurant and coffee shop with its never-ending flow of frozen cappuccino, the perfect thing for a sweltering summer afternoon in the Kruger Park.
Luxurious, beautiful hotel with friendly and attentive staff in all functions. The restaurant food was exceptional! Wonderful view of the river and impeccable design, incorporating the works of South African designers. Spa treatments available in-room, small curio shop on site and walking distance to the Kruger Shalati station. Experienced safari guides too.
I booked here after using Yebo Safaris in Skukuza and wasn't disappointed at all. We had a minor snafu in that two parties were booking into the same tent, but that was quickly sorted out. Otherwise one really cannot complain about the friendly staff, the tents, the location, etc. Will definitely use again,.
We spent our honeymoon at Kruger Gate Hotel.
Sarah and her team were amazing! They made our honeymoon and unforgettable one and we are already planning our anniversary there.
We were treated like royalty and they are the definition of hospitality. We loved every second!
Lovely spacious villa, well kitted out unit in the heart of the bush, staff that greeted us on arrival were lovely and the unit met all our needs and expectations for our trip, it is also close to the park gate and use of the facilities at the nearby hotel is nice as well.
A true hidden gem. Luxury tent rooms with all the little touches. Game drives included and our guide, Sorta, was fantastic. All the staff were amazing. Meals were divine. Everything so well thought out, clean, and beautiful location.
100% everything. What a perfect hotel. The carriages are wonderful, the bed and bathtub are 100% , the staff are excellent. The food is amazing! Our third stay in three years and not our last 5***** plus
Terrific ! skukuza is a great great place. We saw a lot of big mammals around. Tent are very confortable. Restaurants and facilities around are very good. Prices are really affordable and reasonable.
Not much.
This is not a camp on its own like the idea they are selling. This is random spots within the Skukuza rest camp between other campers and random tents.
