The room was comfortable, tasteful and very clean. Bathroom was very nice too. We really appreciated the welcoming with brownies, fresh milk and hot chocolate in our room. Breakfast was very good and staff very friendly. Everything was perfect and we really enjoyed the stay.

In 150 acres of gardens, park and woodland, PowderMills is a Grade II listed 18th-century country house hotel with an outdoor swimming pool and free Wi-Fi, near the historical town of Battle. Built in the 18th century as a Gunpowder Owner’s Residence, the property has seen many changes in its history, notable when it was restored and converted into the privately owned, charming Hotel it is today. The outside is enhanced by ancient wisteria and there are remains in the grounds of artifacts used for the manufacture of the gunpowder reputed to be the finest in Europe.

Wonderful room, helpful staff, and plenty of opportunity to relax in the gardens and lakeside.

Lovely home, facilities very good and hosts very helpful as well. Even when our car had broken down they were extremely understanding and let us stay for a little bit longer until the recovery vehicle arrived. Would definitely stay again

The owners are really lovely and clearly take pride in everything they do at The George. Bed was super comfy, room was huge! I didn't stay for breakfast as I had to go but it looked and smelled really good.

Charming cabin in peaceful surroundings, within walking distance of Bodiam Castle and local amenities. Host was very friendly and helpful, suggesting local walking routes and good pubs. Good wifi, comfortable bed, hot shower, lovely lounge area. My daughter appreciated the hairdryer and hair straighteners! Kitchenette was well stocked with all necessary cutlery and crockery, washing up supplies etc. There was also a coffee machine (with pods) as well as a very nice bottle of apple juice, milk, and a small fruit bowl - this was a nice touch.

We had a lovely stay, Martin was a great host. When we arrived Martin had already started the log fire so was all warm and cosy. The farm was a great location so tranquil, rustic and beautiful. Our little one loved feeding the sheep and chasing the chickens. We didn’t realise the facilities that were available tea, coffee, milk, snacks, kettle, microwave as didn’t say on the advert. We did go down to the local pub, the castle inn, great food! Wish we had stayed longer!
