The location is at the top of a steep hill which will test one's driving skills (and the vehicle itself).
If coming from Tenerife South airport, don't take the shortest route as that also takes you up a street where 2 cars can rarely fit.
The host was excellent and offered a complementery bubbly for our birthdays - a great touch! Also offered to help with recommendations - sadly we couldn't make use of them as we had limited time and quite specific activities in mind already. All in all - can definitely recommend, if only for a night or two - be mindful of the lack of heating (there's a dehumidifier but that doesn't help as much), especially in winter (extra blanket did help a lot!).

We were surprised to find the Garden of Pyramids also hosting a number of other exhibitions including information about Thor Heyerdahl. Unfortunately we didn't have enough time to visit everything on offer but what we did see was interesting but poorly described.
There is also am Aloe Vera museum just outside Güimar.

A lovely little town with many cafes and restaurants, people were very friendly and there were lots of little cafes and bars. The main square is a popular meeting place in the early evening and there is an excellent Sunday market.

We did a lovely walk along the coast near the port. Neither the port nor Guimar town did much for us
The pyramides looked very commercial
However Guimar was convenient for us as not too far from the airport and the Rural Finca de Salamanca was nice

Guimar has a lot of history which can be overlooked.
Guimar has a lot of history which can be overlooked. The ayuntamiento produces a map of the town including a historic walk which was very helpful. It enabled us to stumble upon Hotel Buen Retiro, a historic hidden gem offering tours featuring live music and song from the many musical instruments which feature in virtually every room in the building. We enjoyed the tour and brunch following the tour
We really recommend this one - we had here the most pleasant stay in all the 3 weeks road trip around Tenerife. Very unique building, very clean, offering everything needed. Spacious apartment, roof terace with a mountain and sea view, also a beautiful green garden with bbq. Selfmade arts, wifi all around, several towels, portable heaters. I was thinking the place was prepared like for a best friend for a nice stay. Several natural places to explore near by: barrancos, Malpais de Guimar, piscina naturals (Charco de Golete),
A beautiful peaceful place to stay, in the lanes above the lovely non touristy town of Güimar in the east of Crete. Ideal for people looking for an authentic view of Canarian life and a particularly perfect location for walkers/hikers.
Wonderful helpful hosts and we recommend having breakfast..made with tasty fresh local produce.
We stayed in the apartment which has the most spectacular views and terraces all the way round. It takes up the entire top floor of this delightful traditional property.
We loved it.
Convenient location, close to TF-1 and to the center of Guimar, also just 10 minutes drive to the next beach (Puertito de Guimar).
Beautiful views from the giant terrace!
Apartment has everything you might need for a short stay (we asked for a bottle opener extra)
The host was very nice, he met us as planned, gave us the keys and a complimentary bottlee of wine, and showed us everything. It was also very easy to contact the host via telefone and Booking messages, all our questions were answered.
We loved the views, the outdoor kitchen, the shower under the stars. We loved that we could play music out loud and not bother anyone. Also, the town of Guimar itself is incredible - we didn't have a car during our stay, but enjoyed different hiking opportunities everyday :) The van is approx. 15-20 minutes from the centre of the town, but you can take the frequent local bus.
A charming villa and garden, absolutely fantastic stay. I got the single room, which was perfect for my needs (bed very comfortable, extra blanket as the nights may get a bit cooler, big private bathroom). It was my first time in this area and I loved little city Guimar and the surroundings (which are less touristic than other parts of the island).
We stayed for one night during a recent visit to Tenerife. The hotel is beautifully positioned in a quiet position in the hills above Guimar, with great views down to the coast. Everything is extremely clean and tidy, and the decor is simple and effective. We particularly enjoyed our al fresco breakfast - very tasty. Highly recommended.
The property, the land and the fantastic garden with the avocado trees, cacti, palm trees etc. were stunning. The sea is in sight as well as the mountains of the Teide national park. The restaurant is very nice too. I wish I could spend more time in this magical hotel.
The flat was clean, well equiped and nicely decorated. The owner very friendly as well.
Terrace was a great add-on.
Overall it's very good value for money if you want to stay in Puertito de Guimar (which is a nice place btw) - therefore also, we give a mark of 9
Keys were easy to pick up from the locker, but unfortunately they were to the wrong apartment (see Cristina's review). Sheets and towels seem clean. Nearby is the amazing Malpais de Güimar area of lava fields and an old volcano where you can walk for hours.
Pool with magnificent view to the ocean. Cleanliness. Spot truly isolated to relax and enjoy the silence.
Güimar is a good central place to visit the differents places of Tenerife Island, although is not a beautiful pueblo...
The hosts were so friendly, we liked the fact that it´s a small family hotel. The breakfast was really good, with mostly local products. Would highly recommend staying here. Price/quality is great, and the beds are the best.
Very original hotel, great location for short holiday. Nice l9kal food , good breakfast. Some facilities for kids. For hikers: no one will be borred.
The owners do a lot of efforts to welcone people well
We were exploring Tenerife for the first time and it was a great location for experiencing the east coast and for cycling in the area. The food was good in the hotel.
